Two arrested for attempted murder
Published Thursday, May 7, 2009
VIDALIA — The Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested two men Tuesday on charges of attempted murder in connection with an April 30 shooting in Sicily Island. A Ferriday man and teen were also arrested in connection with the crime.
Kenbaron Ladon Scott, 18, of Baton Rouge, and Jacques Javon Robinson, 23, of Sicily Island, were booked Tuesday by the Concordia
Parish Sheriff’s Office on charges of attempted murder.
The charges stem from a shooting that left a Sicily Island woman wounded in her leg, Catahoula Parish Sheriff James Kelly said.
“The crossing over of parish lines complicated things a little, but we had excellent help from the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshal’s Service in rounding up the suspects,” Kelly said.
The incident, which was the result of an ongoing dispute, happened near the woman’s home on Peck Street.
Additional arrests for the crime were made by the Catahoula Parish Sheriff’s Office. Those included Lamoris Jordan, 25, of Sicily Island, Doretha Jordan, 29, of Sicily Island, and a 16-year-old Ferriday resident.
Lamoris Jordan was charged with attempted murder, and Doretha Jordan was charged as an accessory to attempted murder for driving the suspects away from the scene of the crime, Kelly said.
Even though the victim was shot only once, the investigation has indicated that all of those charged with attempted murder were shooting, Kelly said.
Another Ferriday man, 21-year-old Vondell A. Hawkins, was arrested by the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office on charges of felony possession of stolen things after he was reportedly discovered to have a gun used in the shooting, a statement from the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
Scott was also charged by the Concordia Parish authorities with failure to appear in court for arraignment for a prior charge of unauthorized use of a moveable.
Hawkins was the man injured in September by the accidental discharge of a Vidalia police officer’s service weapon during an arrest.

QUOTE,,,,,"Another Ferriday man, 21-year-old VONDELL A. HAWKINS, was arrested by the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office on charges of felony possession of stolen things after he was reportedly discovered to have a gun used in the shooting!!!"
This jerk just seems to pop up in a LOT of crimes that are commited around the Miss-Lou! Probably a LOT more than he is actually caught doing!
Seems like all the people that have been shot around here lately, have ALL been shot in the leg, foot or thigh! I sure am glad they can't hit the broad side of a barn or we'd be burying people everyday that had died of a gunshot wound!!!

Friends, natchezians, countrymen. . . . . Lend me your ear. Please do not let these good ole boy politically controlled newspaper editors deter you from saying what you think and how you feel or intimidate you into not telling the truth about what's going on around you in your community. They will ban you from commenting, yes, but that's just a minor inconvenience that can be easily overcome. It's time that someone stand up,speak the truth , and tell it like REALLY is. Luckily enough, you fellows have ME. They won't run me off as easily as one may think. I'm sick and i'm tired of the corrupt politics. I'll continue to speak up and tell the truth about it as long as there is a comment section on this site. Now , that being said. . . . Isn't this like the third person in a week to get shot in the leg?""""
We don't have "good ole boy politics" to have to look out for. Come see us and check it out!
