VIDALIA — The Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested two men Tuesday on charges of attempted murder in connection with an April 30 shooting in Sicily Island. A Ferriday man and teen were also arrested in connection with the crime.
Kenbaron Ladon Scott, 18, of Baton Rouge, and Jacques Javon Robinson, 23, of Sicily Island, were booked Tuesday by the Concordia
Parish Sheriff’s Office on charges of attempted murder.
The charges stem from a shooting that left a Sicily Island woman wounded in her leg, Catahoula Parish Sheriff James Kelly said.
“The crossing over of parish lines complicated things a little, but we had excellent help from the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshal’s Service in rounding up the suspects,” Kelly said.
The incident, which was the result of an ongoing dispute, happened near the woman’s home on Peck Street.
Additional arrests for the crime were made by the Catahoula Parish Sheriff’s Office. Those included Lamoris Jordan, 25, of Sicily Island, Doretha Jordan, 29, of Sicily Island, and a 16-year-old Ferriday resident.
Lamoris Jordan was charged with attempted murder, and Doretha Jordan was charged as an accessory to attempted murder for driving the suspects away from the scene of the crime, Kelly said.
Even though the victim was shot only once, the investigation has indicated that all of those charged with attempted murder were shooting, Kelly said.
Another Ferriday man, 21-year-old Vondell A. Hawkins, was arrested by the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office on charges of felony possession of stolen things after he was reportedly discovered to have a gun used in the shooting, a statement from the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
Scott was also charged by the Concordia Parish authorities with failure to appear in court for arraignment for a prior charge of unauthorized use of a moveable.
Hawkins was the man injured in September by the accidental discharge of a Vidalia police officer’s service weapon during an arrest.
