Arrest made for flight from deputy

Published Saturday, May 9, 2009

VIDALIA — A Ferriday man was arrested after he allegedly tried to flee a deputy, swerve his vehicle and strike a Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office vehicle, CPSO authorities said.

Ronathan D. Quinn, 36, was arrested Wednesday on charges of stop sign violation, no seat belt, flight from an officer, no child restraint, aggravated assault on a police officer, cruelty to a juvenile, improper supervision of a minor child, driving under suspension, obstruction of justice, no insurance and having no driver’s license on person.

The arrest resulted after CPSO Sgt. Denis Mulvihill tried to initiate a traffic stop after he reportedly observed Quinn commit a stop sign violation on Fisherman Drive, a statement from the CPSO said.

Rather than stopping, Quinn allegedly tried to flee and ultimately tried to swerve the vehicle into the CPSO unit, the statement said.

When the vehicle was stopped, a passenger fled the scene on foot, the statement said.

The deputy reportedly found a 7-year-old lying on the vehicle’s back seat unrestrained, the statement said.

State child welfare authorities were contacted about the well-being of the child.

Quinn was detained on a $14,213 bond Friday.

Jazzy, I find your story more believable. I hate that the child was with him during all of this.

They should have named him Runathan since he likes running from the cops.

Hahahahaaa elvis!

Runathan tried to careen into the patrol unit with a kid in a car! That's worthy of a $500,000 bond! Or more! He'll be on the streets tomorrow.

Good going this time, CPSO.

What about children who are allowed to ride in the back of a pick-up truck? I've seen them passed right bye by law officers (MHP & NPD) who made no attempt to do anything about the children being unrestained?

NtzMom55... I don't condone anyone riding in the back of a pick-up truck, but from what I hear is that they were Seniors who will be graduating from high school. Thankfully, no one was hurt!
As far as this story goes; I cannot believe all this guy got was a $14,213 bond after doing all those things he did as described in paragraph two of this story!!

I guess he dumped the drugs before he got pulled over and the deputy didn't see that.......

obviously he had something to hide or else he wouldn't have run like that

well maybe he was running cause of no license or insurance?

idiot,

these idiots that continue to drive after loosing their license and can't get insurance should have their vehicles impounded until they can obtain a license, tag, and insurance. The municipal court is full of these driving with suspended license cases, it's ridiculous.

WELL, THE CPSO IS GOOD FOR RACIAL PROFILING ANYWAY. THEY TAKE ALL THE BROTHERS DRUGS FOR PERSONAL USE.

Hey DA...The reason that there are more "brothers" getting arrested is not because of racial profiling, it is because more "brothers" commit crimes! Look at the prison system I think that over 70% of prisoners are black or non-white...and before you say "thats because only blacks get arrested" look at the little Natchez police reports. I'd say 85 to 90 percent black!?!?!?!
And for the record I'm not being racist, DA brought up the color thing, all I'm doing is expressing my opinion which I have a right to do so please don't remove my comment or freak out.
