Published Wednesday, May 13, 2009

NATCHEZ — Two Natchez men were arrested Tuesday in connection with an armed robbery and aggravated assault at a Franklin Street bar last week.

An employee at the Talk of the Town was transported to the University Medical Center in Jackson May 6, after being shot in the leg by a man who was attempting to rob the bar.

Marque Jones, 20, 35 Campbell Road, was suspected as the alleged shooter, who ran away after the gun was fired.

Nigel Simpson, 20, Apt. 303, 100 St. Catherine St., was also arrested in connection to the incident.

Both men have been charged with one count armed robbery and aggravated assault and are being detained at the Natchez city jail without bond.

I wonder what would happen if the script was reversed . If those pond scum thugs had been killed in the process of committing their robbery . How would our screwed up justice system see it , would the bar employee be on trial for murder or self defense ?

Probably murder brock.
For such a little ville Natchez is getting a larger "inner city" every day. Just like real cities, young ignorant men wear their baggy jeans, red underwear showing, white tee shirts, and act tough when they have the drop on someone. They nauseate and disgust me. They will never amount to any good. When one of them does something like this they should be evaluated by a psychotherapist. If found that they will never adapt to a human society they should be put to sleep to insure they don't bother anyone else.

I'm inclined to believe that the employee would be charged with murder also . You make a great point "Hardcorp" about these criminals needing to be mentally evaluated . I believe they'll find that a lot of these individuals who commit brutal crimes could be caught early . Some of these people running the streets of America are real predator/animals . What they care about taking your life is just a blink to them . The only time they are sorry is when they get caught . And many don't even have a consciousness for right or wrong . They are a danger to all who happen to cross their paths . If after evaluation the individual shows a propensity for violent or contemplates violent acts they should be isolated from normal society . When I worked with the government we had to take a psychological test . All criminals should be required to be evaluated in this manner and isolated if necessary .

lucky rascals

a REAL bartender would have shot back and dropped em.

now they'll have a little time behind bars to pump up, and plan their future criminal escapades

maybe next time the "victim" won't be so unprepared

Send them to Afghanistan for a few years so they can learn the "real" fight.
