County not releasing swine flu vaccine data
Published Friday, November 6, 2009
NATCHEZ — County and state health officials are not releasing the number of swine flu vaccine doses allotted to the Adams County Health Department Monday.
Adams County health officials Thursday would not divulge the exact amount of vaccine doses allotted to the county, referring all questions to the Mississippi State Department of Health.
MSDH Spokeswoman Liz Sharlot said 25,800 injectable vaccine doses have been distributed among Mississippi’s 82 counties.
“Each county gets a share based on population,” Sharlot said.
“We’re not able to tell you general amounts of what’s allotted, how much is injectable, how much is nasal mist, how much is going to the county health departments, and the number changes on a day-to-day basis. We are not releasing those numbers because they change daily.”
Sharlot said the county health department’s first priority is vaccinating the public, not tracking vaccine doses.
“Those county people need to be doing their work,” Sharlot said. “We have 82 counties, 81 county clinics and we just don’t have the manpower.”
“This is a huge effort and we’re busy trying to vaccinate people.”
Sharlot said county health officials may or may not know the amount of vaccine doses allotted, and added MSDH will examine how many people have been vaccinated mid-flu season.
“Sometime mid-season we can take a look at how many people have been vaccinated, but we’re not going to be breaking it down by county,” Sharlot said.
MSDH State Epidemiologist Dr. Mary Currier announced last week Mississippi had been allotted 223,800 doses of swine flu vaccine. Exactly 146,000 of those doses are injectable, while the remaining doses are in nasal mist form. The vaccine is free at all county health departments.
Currier said pregnant women, children age 6 months to 4 years and caregivers of young children are at high risk of contracting the swine flu virus and should be vaccinated immediately.

You should be ashamed of yourself for posting that nonsense. It is highly irresponsible. If one local person believes that crap, refuses vaccination and gets sick or dies, it is on your hands. You should consider than before posting conspiracy theory nonsense with regard to life and death issues. I am suggesting removal on these grounds.

I received the vaccine several weeks ago from my OB in TN and the only side effect I had was a headache. It was worth the headache for the protection for me and my baby.

Thanks stateofnatchez: finally somebody with some common sense.

If that's what you consider common sense, you belong in a mental institution.

At least I would not be poisoned by the vaccine.

This is one site my daughter sent me. We will never get the flu vaccine, esp. the swine stuff. Believe me, this "pandemic" is all government hype.

I am a firm believer in getting my yearly Flu Shot and my Pneumonia shot every 5 years without fail, but even my own doctor says she won't take the Swine Flu vaccine and I don't blame her.
I keep reading about how there are shortages and so on, well they can feel free to give mine to someone else. I won't take it and neither will my family!

Did you not stop to realize that the headache was likely caused by the MERCURY in the vaccine? It goes straight to the brain and inflames the lining beneath the skull.

It's your choice whether you want to take the vaccine or not. If you don't want it, don't take it. It's as simple as that. It doesn't lessen or increase your chance of getting the swine or the seasonal flu. The people that are dying from the Swine flu are dying from other underlying complications, not the flu itself. Just like AIDS. You don't die from aids, you die from the complications that the AIDS virus causes. If you are unsure read the literature and make the decision that is best for you. And when the Health Department has finished vaccinated the citizens of Adams County I hope the send the remaining to the next county in need. And NO I will not be taking the Swine Flu vaccination but I did Choose to take the regular seasonal vaccination because I CHOSE TO!

Crakalakin ---> Get a life and do your own research before blathering empty threats about subjects you are obviously closed minded about.
Where ignorance is bliss, 'Tis folly to be wise.

Me get a life? You are the one hanging out on freaking nut-burger conspiracy sites and posting videos of geeks in ski masks. Posting BS health information can get people sick or killed, idiot.
And along come more posts pointing to new-age hacks and yet more conspiracy theories. What is wrong with you people? What scares the hell out of me is that you idiots can vote.

Sorry Crak, but we all do not choose to reside in your one-dimensional world.
And since you seem to be the self-affirmed authority on what is or isn't "BS health information", please expound on your idealist contradiction. I doubt your confirmation goes further than an affirmation from Oprah, Larry King or Tyra Banks.
Nonetheless, your vote and/or opinion is just another reason for many to question the status quo.

Taking vaccines which have mercury and other chemicals can cerrtainly get you killed, so can refusing to take them if the government orders it. Stand up for your rights now or lose them.

With the govt "ordering" it is more reason NOT to take it but to run!

One does not need be an authority to recognize ignorance on display. If the CDC and every other reputable health organization in the world isn't enough for you and the tin-foil crew here, nothing ever will be.
While you are jacking around with your basement-dwelling buddies on conspiracy sites and YouTube, I'm reading actual medical articles...by physicians, micro-biologists and virologists, not Jimmy Drop-out with a web-cam and a bag of good weed.
