Hosford to talk about holiday cooking
Published Sunday, November 8, 2009
Natchez — The Pilgrimage Garden Club will host a holiday meeting at noon on Nov. 13 in the Queen’s Room at the Carriage House Restaurant. Doug Hosford of High Cotton will share ideas for cooking light during the holidays.
“We are so excited that Doug Hosford has agreed to speak,” said Genny Harrison, program co-chair. “Not only is he one of the most knowledgeable chefs in our area, his food is unfailingly delicious.”
He will provide recipes that will make the season more enjoyable, knowing that they are eating healthy, delicious food, Harrison said.
“If anyone can make healthy food taste good, Doug Hosford can,” she said. “And since he is also a cooking instructor, he will be able to explain how to prepare it to home cooks like us.”
Hosford will provide easy ways to trim calories out of the Thanksgiving meal
“The average Thanksgiving meal is a massive 4000 calories,” Hosford said. “I will be giving tips on lighter cooking techniques and how to enjoy great holiday food without going crazy. And I’ll give some ideas and tips on how to prepare easy hors d’oeuvres for the season.”
There will be a mini-program about donations to the Garden Clubs of Mississippi Governor’s Mansion Landscape Fund in honor of PGC President Mina G. Stowers
PGC program co-chairs are Harrison and Georgeann Brakenridge.
