Exception given to Natchez bed and breakfasts
Published Friday, November 20, 2009
NATCHEZ — The Natchez Planning Commission Thursday unanimously approved special exceptions for two future bed and breakfasts.
Plans for a two-unit bed and breakfast at 303 N. Pearl St., owned by Lee Turk, and a one-unit bed and breakfast at 406 Orleans St., owned by Coral Byrd, received no opposition from the commission or residents during a public hearing.
Both bed and breakfasts will operate without commercial meeting privileges, Planning Commission Chairman Deborah Martin said.
In other news:
4The commission unanimously approved lot size variances, front yard setback variances and rear yard setback variances for Natchez Street property owned by resident Sheldon Kaiser.
4Robert Newman, who requested a special exception to open a bar at 319-C Martin Luther King St., in September, told Building Inspector Paul Dawes he will not serve alcohol at the location. Newman will use the space to host parties and other social gatherings. The commission denied Newman’s request last month, citing the bar’s close proximity to St. John United Methodist Church.
4The next planning commission meeting is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. Dec. 17 at the City Council Chambers on Pearl Street.

Does that mean that if he rents out the space to host parties and other social gatherings, that they can have alcohol if they bring it themselves as long as he doesn't serve it?

uh, there are bars right across the street from the Catholic Cathedral aren't there?
Isn't there a bar right across the street from the Jefferson St Methodist Church?
a little consistency would be the fair thing ......

What are they doing to Sheldon now?
And Robert Newman????
The two B&B'S. ! bedroom in one house
2 bedrooms in one house.
Guess someone is being hit by the economy for them to want to take that little bit away from all the hotel-motel rooms in town that's suffering.
