What is this?
Thank God today for His gifts to you
Published Thursday, November 26, 2009
It’s that time of year again — Thanksgiving ’09. God has let us live to see another day and another Thanksgiving.
As I begin to write my article, I always reflect on how good our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is.
He chose to die on Calvary’s cross more than 2,000 years ago for you and I, and for that we give him thanks. He didn’t have to do it, but He did.
Let’s not ever forget the goodness of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. That’s why every day we should say, “Lord I thank you.”
I know it’s kind of tight right now with the holiday season upon us. But we have to make the best of what we have. Some people might not be able to feed their family. Let’s reach out and lend a helping hand, not just on Thanksgiving day, but every day.
Sure we are in a recession, but God would call it a famine. But let’s give thanks anyway. We thank God for food, clothing, shelter. We have food to eat, clothes to put on, a roof over our head.
Instead of some of us complaining about what we don’t have, let’s thank God for what we do have.
We have health and strength. We have a bed to sleep in, a pillow to lay our head on, cover to pull over our body, water to drink. Some people don’t have water to drink.
So as we go into our kitchen to cook all the goodies for Thanksgiving, let’s continue to give him thanks.
Psalm 100, verse 4 says, “Enter into his gates with Thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise. Be thankful unto him and bless his name.”
Psalm 95, verse 2 says, “Let us come before his presence with Thanksgiving and make a joyful noise unto him with Psalm.”
Happy Thanksgiving again to everyone. God Bless.

Even those of us who are not so inclined to Christian faith can take Sister Annie's advice and take a moment to stand in awe at our abundance and the rare privilege it is to be here on this planet with it's wonders.
Whoever -- whatever -- created this place in all it's complexity certainly is beyond the honest grasp of our minds. Even if this is just what matter does with these conditions of temperature and time it is still beyond miraculous and we are like little children here.
I do not think we are in real duress -- even with our hard times, we are only experiencing an incremental drop in our standard of living for most of us. Working harder for a little less would probably make most of us more thankful and hopefully more compassionate.
I think there is far, far more good in this world than bad. And time will ultimately erase all of our mistakes.

"He who offers a sacrifice of thanksgiving honors me." Psalm 50:23
