Grab the leash and sniff for bacon

Published Friday, September 18, 2009

Is that my owner? Does he have my leash? I think he does! I bet we are going walking. I like walking. I like bacon. I like squirrels. I’ve seen squirrels in the park. Maybe we are going to the park. Maybe there will be bacon at the park. When I get to the park, I’m going to bark until I find the bacon.

Sound like something your best friend might say? Perhaps, if we could read minds, our dogs would tell us how much they want to go to Bark in the Park Saturday.

But since dogs don’t talk, the humans have to take the initiative, get the leash and get to Grand Village.

The annual Natchez-Adams County Humane Society fundraiser is one of the area’s most fun events, even if you aren’t a dog owner.

Plus, your admission fee and contest entries will buy needed supplies for the desperate animal shelter.

Conditions at the decrepit building aren’t getting better, but the number of homeless dogs and cats is always increasing.

So grab your best friend — canine or human — and head to the Grand Village of the Natchez Indians from 11 to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Plenty of handshaking and hind end sniffing will make everyone feel right at home. And there might just be bacon.

CB, if you want national news, get a USA Today or something. Bark in the Park is a great fun event for the whole family to enjoy and meet others. It is local news in a local paper for local people. Some of us would like to get our minds off where the world is going sometimes.

Oh gosh, I just realized I made a grammar error. That should be too, not to. Guess I'll lose my writers license for that one. LOL
