New radiology group contracts with local doctor
Published Sunday, September 27, 2009
NATCHEZ — Natchez Regional Medical Center may have a new radiology service, but one familiar face is also on board.
Dr. Kathryn Nutter, radiologist with and MRI of the Miss-Lou, is one of the physicians Precision Radiology has contracted with to provide radiology services to Natchez Regional.
“My group and I have agreed to participate in providing radiology services under the contract awarded to Precision Radiology,” Nutter said. “I will be providing radiology services to the hospital and hope to be able to expand to offer other services in the future.”
Precision Radiology Management Group of Louisiana is a Lafayette, La., based radiology service provider. The group provides independent contracts for radiology services.
Precision Radiology currently has four service contracts, including the one with Natchez Regional.
Precision Radiology is new company; their first contract began in April 2009.
“We are a small but growing company,” Stephanie Richard, operations manager for Precision Radiology said.
They also have contracts with Sabine Medical Center in Many, La., Acadian Medical Center in Eunice, La. and Franklin Medical Center in Winsboro, La.
Nutter said she knew Precision Radiology CEO Jamie Howard from her contacts in the field of radiology and was excited to take on the new responsibility with NRMC.
“This will affect me on a daily basis as I will assume some of the responsibility from the hospital,” Nutter said. “My other work will remain separate. It might be a bit more of a burden on me, but I’m looking forward to it.”
Nutter said in her conversations with Precision Radiology representatives, they told her they wanted a local radiologist involved with the new contract.
“They tried hard to include a local person because they wanted a local face,” Nutter said.
Nutter said having a local face is good for the community as well as Precision Radiology.
“Giving people a face to interact with in a local clinic puts people at ease,” Nutter said. “Having someone who is local gives people someone they can trust with their questions and concerns.”
Nutter isn’t alone in answering those questions, though.
The contract with Precision Radiology has expanded her resources by providing a network of other doctors with which she can confer.
“I am one person on a team,” she said. “With the affiliation of this group, I have the expertise of a number of quality doctors at my fingertips.”
And that is exactly the goal of Precision Radiology.
“We have all independent contracts,” Richard said. “What that creates is a network of doctors that all work together to provide services.”
The Precision Radiology contract took effect on Sept. 18. The plan calls for two new doctors to be employed at Natchez Regional during the work week, with others from the network available on weekends.
The new contract will also bring new radiology services to Natchez Regional.
The service comes at no cost to the hospital since Precision Radiology bills patients or their insurance companies directly.

It sort of looks like radiologists Brown and Emerick were in a round about way booted out to make room for Dr. Kathryn Nutter. Just saying.

Pretty obvious isn't it "itme"??? And to go with a company that's only 5 months old.....SCARY.

This looks like a win-win for everyone. Dr. Nutter is brilliant, and everyone in the area should be thankful for this change. Now maybe it won't take so long to get our results.

"reader", are you really so naive to believe it is the radiologists fault that MAYBE your results took a few days to come back? Are you aware that the hospital transciptionists may take a day or 2? Are you aware that YOUR DOCTOR has the results and just doesn't want to hear you whining? Maybe your Dr. had an emergency and just didn't have time to call you. BUT REST ASSURED; YOUR XRAYS WERE READ IN A TIMELY MANNER. CASE CLOSED. I can hardly wait until some of you same whiners come back and share your new experiences. Do you think Dr. Nutter will be around 24 hours a day? :):)

One last thing. I'm very fond of Dr. Nutter. She is a wonderful Dr. I just think she isn't aware of the expectations being placed of her, but I wish her well.

In the 2 cases of which I am very familiar, it was the radiologist fault, plain and simple. I know who you are, and I know why this upsets you. I think it will be the best thing though.

Thanks "reader", we have all agreed it's best.:)...more family time. And I'm sorry if it was the radiologist fault. Things happen I guess.

Just a week ago people were on here complaining that a company from out of town received the contract with Natchez Regional. Now people like LOVESNATCHEZ are insinuating that Dr. Nutter won't be around 24/7 and can't do the job. RIDICULOUS. Kathryn is extremely smart and a great doctor. Most importantly she doesn't have part ownership in another hospital.

"mssmither", you know not of which you speak. Noone is doubting Dr. Nutter's intelligence. She just can't do the amount of work required. Right now, who's reading???? Ask around. Since everything is covered, why is a locums radiologist coming for 2 weeks in October? At about $3000.00 a day. You see, I know this because he's a friend of mine from The Villages, Florida. Seems like your friends at NRMC have cut of their nose to spite their face. And a company from Lafayette, La. DID receive the contract. Regional is "using" Dr. Nutter's good name for their own benefit. BEWARE. And what in the world is the problem with ANY Dr. owning a part of another hospital? You're just very misinformed. Are you against Drs. Tillman? Dr. White? Dr. Fairbanks? They have an interest also. So I would ask, the next time you come after me, have your facts correct.

It is a major problem to have interest in a hospital you send patients to. I have seen it first hand these so called doctors try to send everything they can to NCH. Some people call it greed, and that is exactly what it is.
