Natchez man arrested after convenience store shooting
Published Monday, March 15, 2010
NATCHEZ — A Natchez man is in police custody after allegedly shooting an acquaintance at a convenience store Sunday.
Travis Conner, 30, 2944 Miller Ave., was arrested after having an altercation with Peter Jones, 27, 1211 Millette St., at the T&C Quick Stop on Aldrich Street at 1:54 p.m, Natchez Police Lt. Craig Godbold said.
As Jones walked out of the store, Conner allegedly pulled out a pistol and shot Jones once in the left thigh and once in the left hand, Godbold said.
Jones was transported to a local hospital and released Sunday.
Godbold said Conner fled the scene, and police were dispatched to Conner’s house.
“We found (Conner’s vehicle at the house), but he had left,” Godbold said.
Conner eventually turned himself in at the police department.
Godbold said he is not certain why the Conner and Jones are at odds, but suspects a girl is involved.
“These two have been having problems for the past couple of months,” Godbold said. “We believe there’s a girl involved. There’s one girlfriend and two boyfriends.”
Conner is charged with aggravated assault and is being held at the Natchez City Jail without bond.

There's always too much loitering and hanging out at T & C anyway. It should be patrolled more closely. To much profanity and dope dealing going on.

I think I'm beginning to understand the "leg shooting rage"
It's just aggravated assault, instead of an attempted murder charge!
Legs, lookout!

Mississippi doesnt have an attempted murder charge. It is aggravated assault. Same thing just different name. They carry the same penalty just different states call it different things. So relax people it is still a very serious charge.

These people are crazy fighting over O.P.P. too much AIDs in Natchez to be going behind others instead of having these altercations with one another go to the Health Department and get yourselfs checked.

Nothing says "I love you" like pistol fire...
She should be simply swooning over this accolade of undying affection.

I don't even stop there.
I get so tired of people hanging out in front of businesses.
It make one feel uncomfortable... The business owner don't seem to care either..
They should be hanging out in a line somewhere trying to find a legitimate job.
Over a girl. THAT GIRL AIN'T ABOUT LA DI DA.
SHE just might have the PACKAGE. SLEEPING AROUND... SHE IS LOADED............LOADED WITH DISEASE.

This is yet another example of punks with guns running amuck on the streets in Natchez/Adams County. I hope that this punk gets the heaviest sentence the law allows. It doesn't matter what the police were quoted as saying; they weren't there and did not pull the trigger. Focus your anger at those that destroy the peace and safety of our community by arming themselves and shooting anyone that they have a disagreement with. It is way past time to put a stop to this. It is OUR responsibility to get involved and report anyone who is illegally carrying a concealed gun. It is OUR responsibility to report suspected illegal activity before incidents occur. If we put enough heat on these punks, then they'll go elsewhere. Do we want our peace and safety back? It is up to US. Either we do something about it...or shut up and continue to take it.

If this is the same store across from a school and Dr. Todd's medical clinic, shouldn't the public demand strict
adherence to the law of loitering?
A stray bullet could snap a child, a parent, an elderly person going about their business in the area.
Geez! Grow up ...pitch in and offer your service to the elderly people besides standing on the dang corner all day.

This is crazy! One damned fool shot another...... who cares?? This is not worth the ink it took to print. No one is surprised that violence happened in this area. ..

Conner's in jail and Jones has the girl. If this is really the reason some one decided to shoot another person they should be locked up for life. I feel like, and I did say I feel like the only way you should have to use a gun is if you are protecting yourself or your family. All this shooting and killing really must stop, people seems so angry now you don't know whether to speak to folks or get to running. It's praying time.

Hey, to put in my two cents...what ya'll don't know is that P Jones just got out of prison last year and is still on probation! He is no stranger to violence! he has 10 outstanding warrants against him, 5 with the Police Dept and 5 with the Sheriffs' Dept. Fighting, theft & selling drugs is his rap. Six "baby Mamas" and no job! Go figure. Violent History and still roaming! Law enforcement doesnt stand a chance with repeat offenders who know the law better than them & probation officials and Judges who let repeat offenders roam & repeat this type of behavior! I agree all we have to depend on is prayer! Glad no one else was injured.

If P Jones just got out of prison last year, is still on probation and has 10 outstanding warrants against him...then why wasn't he arrested? As for him having six "baby Mama's" and no job, how is this not almost EXPECTED when we read about two punks fighting over a woman...and resorting to using a gun. These punks are COWARDS...choosing a cowardly way to impose their will on another. There is absolutely NOTHING tough about ambushing another human being with a gun. When is enough ENOUGH Natchez? When are WE going to take back our community from these punks? We can do it. It is within our power to put these punks where they belong...in jail...or down the road away from here. Make a stand...turn these punks in to law enforcement. Punk a punk!

steve_0....aggravated assault and attempted murder falls under the same statue...so know the law before making a comment like that....aggravated assault covers the whole field of of attempted murder ...need to ask things first...this isnt louisiana...and each crime has its own title...its all the same

why does he need a job, everyones tax money is paying his bills and now that he is in jail, he has more rights than the everyday hard working person getting it honest, and for the babies, he isn supporting them, everyones tax money is supporting them, instead of punishing him we the people are having to pay for the crime, and the reason they use weapons is because so many drugs around that cant be controlled, and has burned up peoples mind, is the reason for drugs, they cant defend themselves correctly because they are to inmature to walk away from such childess petty inmature talk thinking weapons solve every solution...NOT !!!!!

These punks live in a fantasy world of ghetto thug-ism. They are nothing more than punk cowards who must rely upon the use of a weapon to do their talking since they cannot construct a simple sentence using proper English. They are products of years upon years of ghetto rap glamorizing killing, drugs, mistreatment of women, refusing to take responsibility for their illegitimate children, dressing worse than a doped up hobo, putting on a front acting all tough, purposely dumbing themselves down into an ever decreasing spiral of crime, poverty and ignorance. These punks are intent on destroying advancements made in civil rights by trampling upon the rights of others...thinking nothing of booming their vulgarity for anyone to hear and simply not caring. How can any of these punks respect the rights of others when they can't even respect themselves enough to get a FREE education, go out and get a job, take personal responsibility and quit looking for government handouts and excuses for why THEY don't have what others have worked for. It is beyond PITIFUL when punks want to blame anybody and everybody for their mistakes. It isn't funny. It isn't cute. And it is wearing thin! John Q Public has had enough and sooner or later there will come a time for a backlash against punks, thugs and ignorant leeches upon society. When will enough be ENOUGH in Natchez/Adams County? When will YOU take a stand to rid our community of this putrid filth? Punk a punk!
