Richard Newlin Kirby Jr. , Natchez
NATCHEZ — Services for Richard Newlin “Rick” Kirby Jr., 54, of Deatsville, Ala., formerly of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2007, at University of Alabama Birmingham Medical Center, will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Ricky Kirby was a very gentle person...He was a Morgantown and Church buddy... a Key Club Pal in High School and my first roommate at Auburn in the very small rooms of Magnolia Dorm the hot Fall of 1970...He always had a little snicker of a smile when I saw him....and he was quick to laugh....his gentle soul will be missed on this earth....

I am so shocked.I remember growing up with Rick in Morgantown.I remember playing marbles in his granparents driveway.I remember playing wiffle ball and football together as kids. We went separate ways when we went off to school,but our paths crossed again when we wosked at I.P. together.We used to talk college baseball.I'm sad today buit I remember the good times as kids.I will always remember my friend.My sincere condolences to Rick's Family.I wish I could be there Rick,but time and job here in North Carolina won't let me.A good and decent friend is hard to come by,and Rick was both.I will miss my friend.
