Dora Armstrong Barnes, Doloroso

1912 - 2007

DOLOROSO — Services for Dora Armstrong Barnes, 95, of Doloroso, who died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007, at her residence, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Free Spring Baptist Church with the Rev. George Noflin officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Barnes was born Feb. 9, 1912, in Woodville, the daughter of Daniel and Mary Alice Phipps Armstrong. She was a homemaker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Swayze Barnes.

Survivors include her sons, Frank Scott and wife, Deborah, Leroy Haynes and wife, Varrie, Sidney Haynes, Alvin Haynes and wife, Peggy, all of Sacramento, Calif.; adopted son, Noel Barnes of St. Francisville; daughters, Luebertha Barnes of Chicago, and Mary F. Cooper of Sacramento; adopted daughter, Eloise McKinsey of St. Francisville; sister-in-law, Phebeann Phipps of Woodville; special niece, Lizzie Sullivan of Ferriday; special grandchildren she raised, Cynthia Wyndham of Chicago and Andrew Barnes and wife, Ora, of Woodville; 18 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

I met Cousin Dora back in 1999 and I alway enjoyed my talks with her. I will truly miss her.
