Marcus Carroll Cobb Jr. , Natchez

NATCHEZ – Services for Marcus Carroll Cobb Jr., 82, who died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2007 at the Mississippi State Veterans Home in Jackson, were 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25 from Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel with Elder Talmadge Anderson officiating.

Burial was at Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Mr. Cobb was born July 25, 1925 in Pine Ridge, the son of Marcus Carroll Cobb Sr. and Mamie Louise Foster Cobb. He was a member of Covington Road Church of Christ. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. in World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Lillie J. Cobb; son David C. Cobb, Sr. of Ridgecrest; daughter Janis Doyle Jennings and husband R.W. or Richland; grandsons Michael Doyle and wife Anita of Arlington, Texas, Stephen Doyle of West Point, David Cobb Jr. of Vidalia; brother Joseph Cobb of Ft. Myers, Fla.; three great-grandchildren, Shelbi, Stephanie and Sean.

Pallbearers were Mike Green, Ray Stakes, Michael Anderson, Fred Rand, Ed Rand and Huby Thornburg.

Honorary pallbearers were Pernell Flowers, Jimmy Mcleod and Marion Steed.

Memorials may be made to Covington Road Church of Christ or Magnolia Bible College.
