Anthony Merrick, Natchez

1960 - 2007

NATCHEZ — Services for Anthony “Tony” “Dirty Merk” Merrick, 47, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, in Natchez, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Pilgrim Baptist Church with the Rev. Melvin White officiating.

Burial will follow at Pine Hill Memorial Park under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.

Visitation will be at 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Merrick was born July 4, 1960, in Natchez, the son of Claudia Merrick and Roy Lee Merrick. He attended Natchez-Adams Schools. He was a painter and was a member of Pilgrim Baptist Church. He enjoyed washing cars.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Oscar and Mary Lou Merrick; and maternal grandparents, John and Jessie Murray.

Survivors include his loving mother, Claudia Merrick; father, Roy Lee Merrick; brothers, Theodore Merrick of Natchez and Marvin Merrick of Jackson; a special brother, William Batteast Jr.; sisters, Carolyn Merrick and Angela Wesley and husband, Narviez, all of Las Vegas, Nev.; and a number of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Louis Anderson, Bobby Allen, Keith Wallace, Michael William, Aron Brown and Dan Brooks.

Claudia, my heart goes out to you. I know how difficult this has to be. I remember working for you when you owned the Side Track. My prayers go out to you and your family. May God be with you durring your time of grief.
