NATCHEZ — Services for Walter Washington Sr., 80, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2007, in Natchez, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at George F. West Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Brooks officiating.
Burial will follow at Pine Hill Memorial Park under the direction of George F. West Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Washington was born Feb. 3, 1927, in Natchez, the son of Charlie Washington Sr. and Nancy Lindo Washington. He was educated in the Natchez Public Schools and was retired from Natchez Steel. Mr. Washington enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Brooks Washington; his parents; brothers, George Washington Sr. and Charlie Washington Jr.; granddaughter, Nelwyn D. Thompson; nieces, Mamie Lee Jackson and Patricia S. Banks; and nephews, George Washington Jr. and Walter Washington.
Survivors include a sister, Hannah Mitchell of Mount Clair, Calif.; son, Walter Washington Jr. and wife, Eupha, both of Upper Marlboro, Md.; daughters, Lurie D. Thompson and Glenda M. Washington, both of Natchez and Shirley A. W. Norris and husband, Odell, both Alexandria, La.; grandson, Dewayne M. Thompson of Natchez; granddaughter, Tamika K. Washington of Upper Marlboro, Md.; great-granddaughter, Courtney Thompson of Natchez; and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.
