Hello,
You have my very sincere condolence. I'm a family member from DeFrance-Wood or Woods connection. There is a DeFrance Reunion the 2nd weekend of July in the Detroit area. It is held every 2 years. A decision is usually made during the reunion of where the next one will be held.
I remember in the 1990's, Gussie's name was on the mailing invitation list. However no current members recall her. I'm attempting to make the family reconnect as I work on the family tree.
I attempted to locate her after Hurricane Katrina but was unsucessful until I found the obituary. I unfortunately never had the opportunity to meet her.
I'm descended from William (of Va) and Lucinda Wood/Woods of Adams, MS. Several of their daughters married DeFrance brothers. It was Julia Wood/Woods to Frank DeFrance and Fannie Wood/Woods to Edward DeFrance (Jr ?).
