NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Jessie James Short, 54, of Natchez, who died Friday June 1, 2007, at his residence will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Natchez City Cemetery. Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Monday at the Laird Funeral Home Union Street Chapel.

Mr. Short was born Nov. 7, 1952, in Natchez, the son of Helen Short. He enjoyed raising birds, going to auctions, loving on his dogs, riding ATVs, reading western novels, watching wrestling and collecting knives and guns.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Martha and Coy Short; his mother; and two sisters, Martha Waterman and Erline Short.

Survivors include sister, Susan Short; niece, Virginia Waterman; nephews, Hollis Waterman, Earnest Waterman and his wife, Brenda; great-nieces Sherri Stevens, Holly Waterman and Megan Moore; great-nephews, Joseph Stevens Jr., Zackery Day, Brian Dalton and Bradley Abbot; and very special friends, David and Darlene Ferry, Robert Moore, Carol Moore and Linda Harr.

Pallbearers will be Sam Collins, Hollis Waterman, Earnest Waterman, David Ferry, Robert Moore and Sherri Stevens.

Honorary pallbearers will be Zackery Day and Joseph Stevens Jr.
