Tommie "Big Man" Davis

1934 - 2007

NATCHEZ — Services for Tommie “Big Man” Davis, 73, of Natchez, who died Thursday, May 31, 2007, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. Samuel Hines officiating.

Burial will follow at Skinners Cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral System.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Davis was born Feb. 2, 1934, in Adams County, the son of Louis Davis and Georgia Coulston. He was retired from Fife Oil Company where he was a truck driver. He accepted Christ in 1978 and became a member of Antioch Baptist Church. He was a member of the NAACP, M.W.W.T.M. Grant Jr. Masonic Grand Lodge, Elisha Lodge No. 1.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leon, Andrew, Louis Jr., Albert and Willie Davis; and sisters, Beatrice Davis Stewart, Alma Ruth Davis, and Sarah Ann Davis.

Survivors include his sister, Murray Lee Davis; children, Tony Davis, Cary Davis, Gary Davis and Tommie Davis Jr., all of Houston, Texas; Cheryl Goodin, Sandra Goodin, Doris Davis, Wynette Davis and Darlinda Paige, all of Houston; 11 grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Harry Paige, David Smith, Jonathan Weatherspoon, Elijah Holmes, Leroy Brown, Roosevelt Smith and Larry Goodin.
