Charles "Shortie" Thomas

NATCHEZ — Services for Charles “Shortie” Thomas, 54, of Natchez, who died Thursday, June 14, 2007, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Beverly officiating.

Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Thomas was born Aug. 1, 1953, in Adams County, the son of Charles King and Thelma Thomas January. He was a former employee for the City of Natchez as a laborer.

He was preceded in death by his father; sister, Sarah King McCoy; and stepfather, Will R. January.

Survivors include his mother, Thelma Thomas January; brothers, James Thomas and wife, Earnestine, of Natchez, Willie King and wife, Joyce, of Kirby; sisters, Glenda King of Georgia and Ella Mae King of Florida; uncles, Mark Thomas and Hosea Thomas, both of Natchez and Vernell Thomas of Los Angeles; and great-uncles, Hosea Briggs and Moses Lake of Washington.

Pallbearers will be friends of the family.
