John Ellis Miller
NATCHEZ — Services for John Ellis “Joseph” Miller, 68, of Natchez, who died Friday, June 15, 2007, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Saah-Buckman officiating.
Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 25, 2007, at the Natchez National Cemetery under the direction of Webb Funeral System.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home with a rosary from 6 to 6:30 p.m.
Mr. Miller was born Dec. 8, 1938, in Natchez, the son of Ellis and Melissa T. Miller. He was a 1958 graduate of St. Francis High School where he was voted “best dressed” in that class. He was employed with Diamond International Corporation, Premo Stallone and Natchez Waste Water Treatment Plant. Mr. Miller served in the U.S. Army as a driver from 1958-1959. He was baptized and remained at Holy Family Catholic Church until his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents; spouses, Barbara Hammett Miller and Virginia Willis Miller; a son, John Joseph Miller Jr.; brothers, Cpl. Jesse Miller, George Miller, Dan Edward Miller and Bingham Hunter; sisters, Anna M. Miller and Margaret M. Malone.
Survivors include his devoted children, Glen Miller and wife, Carol, of St. Antonia, Texas, Larry Byrd and Paul Miller and wife, Carolina, all of Houston, Texas, Jesse Miller and wife, Regina, of Wichita, Kan., John Maurice Jackson of Goldsboro, S. C., Julius “Wayne” Willis and wife, Angie, of Lawton, Okla. and David “Warren” Willis and wife, Karen, of Winchester, Calif.; daughters, Sharon “Sherrie” Marshall and husband, Tyrone, of Norcross, Ga., Joan “Joni” Anderson and husband, Cedric, of Murfreesboro, Tenn. and Batinna Thornhill and husband, Andrew, of Flowery Branch, Ga.; sisters, Margie L. Hoggatt and Carolyn Smith and husband, Willie “Tim,” all of Natchez, Irma Jean Mushatt and husband, Willie “Joe,” of Charlotte, N.C., Doris H. Hawkes and husband, Bernard, of Newport News, Va. and Christine H. Cormier and husband, Larry, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; brothers, Don Hunter of Natchez and Larry Hunter of Omaha, Neb.; two brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; uncles-in-law, Charles “Doc” Floyd and Sandy Nealy and wife, Alfredia, all of Natchez; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a god-daughter, Danielle Smith of Natchez; a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives; and special friends, Bobbie Pernell, Georgia Ware, Sam Jones and Henry Lee “T” Smith, all of Natchez, and other wonderful friends.
