Willie V. Holland

WOODVILLE — Services for Willie V. Holland, 79, of Tylertown, who died Tuesday, June 19, 2007, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center, in McComb, will be noon Saturday at King Emanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. C.S. Gordon Jr. officiating.

Burial will follow Cedar Rest Cemetery, in Woodville, under the direction of Rollins Funeral Home, Woodville.

Mr. Holland was born Nov. 22, 1927, in Wilkinson County, the son of Turner Holland and Susie Arbuthnot Holland. He was a former diesel technician at Jones Truckline. Mr. Holland was a member of New Zion Baptist Church in New Orleans and a former member of the Fort Adams Masonic Lodge No. 622.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Lawrence Holland, Frank Henry Holland and Theodore Holland; and sisters, Patricia Lewis and Lillian Young.

Survivors include his wife, Celeste Holland of Tylertown; a daughter, Toni Holland of Olathe, Kan.; a son, Larry Holland of Tylertown; sister, Mollie Goines of New Orleans; seven sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; godchildren, Marjorie Lewis of Baton Rouge, Mary Stricklin and husband, the Rev. Robert Stricklin, of Woodville and Jeanette Burds of Los Angeles; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Turner Holland, Lawrence Holland, Avon Lewis, Michael Irving, Halla Minor and Scott Hunter.

Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Holland, David Irving, Charles Mills, William Lewis, Elvin Leahman and Earnest Qualls.
