I can hardly recall a childhood memory without Walter. We grew up together on College St and walked to Tate's Grocery and ran errands for our grandparents regularly. EVERDAY he was at our home. Once, my grandfather slipped, fell and broke his leg while trying to help me keep Walter on the other side of the door. We would laugh, fight and play until the street lights came on. For many years he was the brother I didn't have. After high school I went to college and he the Army. There were occasional phone calls but we mostly settled for hearing about each other through family. I regret that now. It seems that life cheated us by taking him so soon but there are many things on this side that we don't understand. Meanwhile, I resolve to remember him as a person with a hearty laugh and tremendous energy. That's how I will remember my friend.

Walter was someone that I knew the majority of my life. We were fortunate in Natchez to go to school with most of our Classmates from 3rd grade until we graduated from High School. That made us family as well as Classmates. It is always hard when someone makes the Transition but for someone as young and full of life as Walter, that makes it harder to understand. We must remember the good times and hold on to those memories. I'm glad to say I knew Walter. May the peace of the Lord be with Christine and the Family

I knew Walter from childhood as well. Walter lived around the corner from my family on Woodlawn. I often called him little Walter. Walter would play with me and my sisters all the time. I remember his smile and laughter. He always had a joke and a smile. I like to say that we were family as well as classmates. I did not see Walter for a while but I was very fortunate to see him about 2 yrs ago at the North Natchez Christmas party and we were so thrilled to see one another again. Walter will be missed but I am sure that God has a special reception and reward awaiting him. Walter thanks for being a part of my life and making my childhood memborable. Laverne Donnan

Walter was my church member, childhood friend and classmate. I first met him while serving in the church as a youth dept. member and Alter boy. It's no surprise that he joined the military because he enjoyed helping and serving others. He and I never had a fight or any misunderstandings of any kind in all the years that we knew each other. He was a person who always had a pleasant attitude about everything. My most significant memories of him were days we would meet to swim at the Thompson swimming pool. He was a fearless diver off the high board. I envied him for that. :-) He was younger than the older life guards by at least 5 or 6 yrs. but would duplicate and even better them at their own dives. I'm glad you were my friend and classmate my brother, you will be missed. May God Bless Christine and the family and may they take comfort in knowing that Walter is safe in his Father's Arms.
