Vera H. Colvin, Natchez

1929 - 2008

Natchez — Graveside services for Vera Holloway Colvin, 78, of Broken Arrow, Okla., formerly of Ferriday and Ruston, who died Friday, April 4, 2008, in Broken Arrow after a long illness, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 8, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Ruston, under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home in Ruston.
Visitation will be today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Mrs. Colvin was born Sept. 15, 1929, in Baskin, the daughter of Willis and Liddie Holloway.
She grew up in Lincoln Parish and was a 1946 graduate of Ruston High School.
Mrs. Colvin married Arnold Colvin in 1950 and lived in Concordia Parish for 40 years.
She later moved back to Ruston to be near her family.
She worked for several years at both Louisiana Gas Company and Louisiana Power and Light in Ferriday.
Mrs. Colvin was a member of the Ferriday Church of Christ and the Northside Church of Christ in Ruston.
She was preceded in death by her husband; sisters Audrey Newell and Millie Rainwater; and brothers Bill Holloway, Dayton Holloway and Sebron Holloway.
Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Colvin, of Broken Arrow; a son, Lavelle Colvin of Bossier City; a brother Vernon Holloway, of Florida; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of the charity of the donor’s choice.
