James R. Evans, Vicksburg

VICKSBURG - Services for James R. Evans, 82, of Vicksburg, who died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, at Promise Specialty Hospital, will be at 10 a.m. today at Glenwood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kent Campbell officiating.
Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Glenwood Funeral Home in Vicksburg.
Mr. Evans was a life long resident of Vicksburg. He was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Verna Evans; one sister, Madge Gillis; and three brothers, Jessie Evans, Melvin Evans and Bobby Evans.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Evans; one son, Jimmy L. Evans and wife, Betsy, both of Newellton, La.; two daughters, Joyce Doak and husband, James, both of Birmingham, Ala. and Karen Goodnight and husband, Al, both of Vicksburg; two brothers, Lee Evans and wife, Martha, both of Vicksburg and Sidney Evans and wife, Eva, both of Jackson; one sister, Dolly Gillis of Alabama; seven grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Steven Evans, Mickey Howard, Marvin Nelson, Jay Tidwell, Kevin Garner and Gary Evans.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Thomas Sligh, Dr. Daniel Edney, Whitney Dorian, Promise Specialty Hospital second floor staff, River Region Hospital fifth floor staff, and Deaconess Home Care staff.
