Vera Aline Smith Toney, Ferriday

FERRIDAY — Funeral services for Vera Aline Smith Toney, 77, of Ferriday, who died Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, in Ferriday, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Pentecostals of the Miss-Lou with the Revs. Gary Howington and Shawn Plant officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodland Mausoleum under the direction of Comer Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the church.
Mrs. Toney was born March 27, 1930 in Wisner, the daughter of Woodard D and Maggie Luvenia Smith. She was a homemaker, a resident of Ferriday for more than 60 years and a member of the Pentecostals of the Miss-Lou. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Maggie Meister, Ethel Swilley and Katie Cain, and brothers Charles A. Smith and Rufus M. Smith.
Survivors include her husband, J.B. Toney; sisters Georgia June Lazarus, of Zachary, La., Rachel Baum, of Baytown, Texas, and Mildred Archer and husband, Bob, of Ferriday; sister-in-law Gaye Sullivan, of Natchez; special nephews March and Jason Archer, of Ferriday; numerous nieces and nephews; a host of friends.
Members of the church will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be March, Jason, Noah and Bob Archer.
