MONTICELLO — Funeral services for Clarence Smith Jr., 81, of Monticello, who died Friday, March 28, 2008, at his residence, will be 3 p.m. today at New Hope Baptist Church in Monticello.
Burial will follow at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Smith was born Feb. 1, 1927, the son of Clarence Ray Smith and Cavie Lillian Dunaway Smith.
He was in the papermaking industry for 39 years, a naval veteran of World War II, a member of the Bogalusa American Legion and an active member of New Hope Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 59 years, Irene; sons Tommy Smith and wife Mary, of Monticello, and Len Ray Smith and wife Margaret Ann, of Monticello; grandchildren Laurie Smith and Kent Young, Karen Smith and Brent Collins, Tammy Smith and Brent Prince and Christopher Smith and great-grandchildren Ethan and Marlie Young, Mattie Prince, Katherin Collins, Kiley Rae and Kassidy Ann Smith.
