Lydia Ann Geter Hude, Natchez

1944 - 2008

NATCHEZ — Graveside services for Lydia Ann Geter Hude, 64, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2008, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, following a courageous battle with cancer, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Evergreen Cemetery, in Woodville, with Brother Bernard Waites officiating.

Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hude was born July 30, 1944, in Centreville, the daughter of Lev Magruder and Berniece Leake Geter. She lived most of her life in Natchez, graduating from Natchez High School. She attended business college at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge.

Mrs. Hude enjoyed a career in the field of law enforcement, serving as dispatcher for the Natchez Police Department, Adams County Sheriff and was currently employed by Vidalia Police Department. In addition to her work, she loved to cook and her favorite pastime was cross-stitching. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Survivors include one son, John Hude IV; her mother, Berniece Leake Geter; two aunts, Adele Jackson and husband, Howard, both of Hattiesburg, and Phyllis Geter of Woodville; a number of cousins and friends; and she will be missed by her beloved cat, Lizzie.

Pallbearers will be Alan Brumbellow, Robert Rollins, Seth Morris, Bradley Carlock, Robert Sullivan and Jack Hude.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dewayne Carlock and Arthur Lewis.

Sorry to hear this I worked for the sheriffs dept at the same time that Lydia work at NPD,in the 1975 or so. She was a great lady.She left a lasting impression for 33 Years.
