Willie Belle Wilson, Natchez

1910 - 2008

NATCHEZ — Services for Willie Belle Wilson, 98, who died Sunday, Aug. 31, 2008, in Natchez, will be at 2 p.m. today at First Presbyterian Church’s Stratton Chapel with the Rev. Dr. John Larson officiating.

Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery, at the Wilson lot, under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time today at Stratton Chapel.

Miss Wilson was born Jan. 18, 1910, in Natchez, the daughter of Henry Edward and Eva Schleicher Wilson. She was a graduate of Natchez High School. Throughout her professional life, Miss Wilson worked as a bookkeeper for several firms in Natchez. She established an independent accounting firm and numbered many organizations as well as individuals among her clients. She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church and a member of the Pilgrimage Garden Club.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Nina M. Wilson; and four first cousins, Lucille S. MacNeil, Glen Rose Seyfarth, William H. Wilson and Maurice Wilson.

Survivors include four first cousins, Agnes W. Foster and Rawdon Blankenstein, both of Natchez, Robert Wilson, of Jackson, and William E. Blankenstein of Wilmington, Del.

Pallbearers will be Boatner Blankenstein, Don Blankenstein, Walton Wilson, William Wilson, William Seyfarth, John Seyfarth, William Poole and James Watts.

Honorary pallbearers will be Adrian Trimble and Ed Henry.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to First Presbyterian Church, Natchez Children’s Home Services or a charity of choice.

I was so sorry I was not able to attend services for Willie Belle. She was a grand lady, a true Southern Belle, always happy, always up. She will be sorely missed. My love to all in Natchez.
