NATCHEZ — Services for Vera Nell Johnson, 49, of Natchez, who died Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at Natchez Regional Medical Center, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Hill No. 1 Baptist Church.
Burial will follow at Carthage Point Cemetery under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home in Bude.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Ms. Johnson was born Feb. 11, 1960, in Natchez, the daughter of Willie L. Johnson and Odessa M. Ross-Fleming.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Patricia “Sweet Pea” Johnson.
Survivors include one daughter, Lukisha Shanta Johnson of Dallas; one son, Rodrick Rondell Johnson and wife, Danisha, of Irving, Texas; five sisters, Debra Faye Harris, Annette Johnson, Gladys “Re-Re” Johnson, Gena Denise Ross-Hammond, all of Natchez, and Shirley Fleming of Fayette; six brothers, Michael S. Ross and wife, Leah, of Seattle, Wash., LaMorse Johnson and wife, Darlene, of Houston, Texas, Robert Johnson and wife, Hazel, of Hammond, La., Willie “Bear” Johnson, Carlos Smith and Derrick Smith, all of Natchez; four grandsons; stepmother, Lyttia Johnson of Natchez; stepfather, Albert Fleming and wife, Joyce, of Natchez; a special aunt, Ida B. Johnson and husband, Elijah; a special cousin, Demetrius Clark of Dallas; a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
