Growing up in Eastbrook subdivision the Bittle family lived next door to the Carlisles. Our families became best friends very quickly. . . it was as if we had two sisters and an extra set of parents. In the summers we would be at each others' houses every day and night. We have wonderful memories of evening meals together, watching TV together (usually at the Carlisles' since they got a color TV first!), going fishing together, vacationing together - in short they are a part of our family and our childhood. Dalton played baseball for Jim for several years on the Coca-Cola team. We have vivid memories of our times together that included a awful lot of laughter. We could not have asked for a better childhood or friends. Over the years our lives have gone in directions that have separated us by miles, but we've always known the love and concern was just a phone call away. We can't express how much Jim will be missed by us and all who knew him. May God's peace, comfort and blessings be with Martha, Becky and their families at this time.

Gonna miss you, Mr. Carlisle. I remember you at the BF Goodrich store on E. Franklin street as a kid. Loved the smell of the place and awed at the bicycles. I'll see you on the other side when I get there.

When I was delivering mail to the nursing home, I frequently saw your dad visiting your mom. Martha, that was true love, and while I already liked and respected your dad, he grew immensely in my eyes because of this. He was a good man and he will be missed.
