VIDALIA — Fifteen Concordia Parish residents are behind bars Thursday on charges ranging from manufacture and distribution of a scheduled III substance to bench warrant arrest for failure to appear, after a joint operation by local and federal agencies.

The Concordia Narcotics Task Force, U.S. Marshals and Louisiana Probation and Parole officers served 15 warrants Thursday that had been back logged in the Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office system for some time.

“We had a good bit of warrants backed up in our system, so we wanted to make sure we cleared those out,” Chief Deputy David Hedrick said. “We’re going to start doing that more often, so we don’t have so many pile up.”

Hedrick said the majority of the warrants were related to narcotics offenses, so letting those linger in the system any longer was not an option.

“When all these agencies join together, it’s a lot easier for us to track people down and arrest them,” Hedrick said.
