Members of the St. Mary Basilica archive committee prepare the casket for Bishop John Joseph Chanche’s re-internment Wednesday morning. Patricia Murphy smooths out one of the vestments given by Jackson Diocese Bishop Nunzio Latino as Jimmy Guercio and Gabrielle Richardson make sure everything is in order. The vestments were laid on top of Chanche’s bones in the casket, which was made by trapist monks in Iowa. Also buried with Bishop Chanche are the remains of his sister Mary Marcelline Chanche Edwards who was also buried in the same grave as Bishop Chanche in Baltimore, Md. View photo »
