Kpage, we must be kin somehow or someway.
"I am bored" is not a phrase that you used around my parents, either. I mean they could come up with a project faster than Superman, Wonder Woman, Speedy Gonzolas or before Quick could get Ready! :o)
But you know, I was just a bare foot country boy. I, generally, could find something interesting to do. It might be hunting with the BB gun, fishing on a farm pond, playing sand lot baseball, shooting the basketball, visiting with the neighborhood kids, etc.
I suppose those were the good old days, but I hope the good old days are ahead of me and not behind.

I think the point is that there really always "something" to do in Natchez. Sometimes we just have to look around or hear about it from someone else. But some of these "things" are just too expensive for a lot of people today. When you are trying to decide to buy milk for the kids or gas for the car so you can get to work, music festivals come far behind.

Gary,
I understand what you are saying about what we did as kids in Natchez. But today, if you send you kid out with a Beebee gun to go play, some thug may shoot him with a real gun because they thought his was real. If you go out to fish in a pond, you will get hauled in for trespassing. All the sandlots are fenced off and liabilty lawyers will make sure you do not trespass on the rights of the landowner. You might play basketball in your driveway, you don't say shoot because you just might get shot. The neighborhood kids may be the thugs.....so you can not let your kids get out of your sight....

Very true Redusmfan.
Dimples was talking about having a teen dance night with 2 paid police officers. Some people criticized the idea, but I think its a really nice idea.
Right now the kids have nothing to do except ride around and drink.
At least someone is trying to think of something.

Natchez is the largest town for 50 miles in any direction. We have tons more to do than towns such as Joneville, St. Joseph, Meadville, Port Gibson and others. My guess is that Jackson has a large group of kids that say "There's nothing to do in this town...". Tell it to someone who cares.

I have wished before that I could win the lottery and build a huge multi-acre fun park for kids. Water slides, go cart tracks, skateboard stuff, and whatever else kids like. Unfortunately, insurance and a good security team would make the cost of playing sky high. What a shame.

Oldgrandad, tell me, what is there for kids to do around here?
The bowling alley? PLU_EEZE
All they have to do is ride around, and usually drinking is involved with that. Now with gas prices so high, they will just all meet in some field out in the middle of nowhere where God only knows what goes on.
There really is not anything FUN and supervised for our kids to do.
I am right there with ya Kpage.
