I'm praying that Chuck wins outright, but I highly doubt that can happen. GO CHUCK...

I'm projecting a 3 way tie. Mayfield, Cox, and Brown, in which case I believe Brown will win.

I'm thinking it will involve Randy Freeman too. I am thinking Mayfield, Freeman and Brown.

Well it looks like it is probably Mayfield and Brown, assuming the absentee ballots are consistent with last night's results.

Once upon a time the black vote and the white vote would be mostly predictable. But in today's world who knows?

Question is, will the votes that went to Cox, Freeman and the other white candidates go to Mayfield in the runoff? Will their be a better turnout among black voters in the runoff? Does race matter as much as it once did?

Mayfield and Brown both appear to be respected and reasonable men and people can focus more on who would be a more skilled, experienced and trusted administrator of the 3 million or so dollar sheriff's budget.

Amazingly poor showing by some of the contenders.

While one cannot question the sincerity of their efforts and their dedication to service, it is amazing how out of touch people can be in gauging their appeal to voters for such an office. And how much money can be spent by some with so little desired result.

Since Cox was working with the Veterinarian (against my suggestion) I will expect him to give his support to Brown.
