NATCHEZ - Services for Chavaris “Chuck” Martin, 24, of Natchez, who died Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Egypt Baptist Church with the Rev. James Anderson officiating.
Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Robert D. Mackel and Sons Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Chavaris was born Dec. 28, 1983, in Natchez, the son of Clifton Walker and Sarah Martin Jones. He was employed by Quality Preheated Pressure Washing and worked at an offshore drilling rig in Fouché, La.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandmother, Margaret Letcher; grandmother, Sarah L. Martin; two uncles, Kermit and Alfred Walker; and one cousin, Jatarri Clark.
Survivors include one son, Chavaris Martin Jr., of Natchez; his mother and stepfather, Curtis and Sarah Jones, both of Natchez; his father, Clifton Walker of Atlanta; three sisters, Chike Martin of Southaven, Chasity Martin of Memphis, Tenn., and Chandise Martin of Natchez; one brother, Clifton Walker Jr. of Natchez; two nephews, Emmanuel Horton Jr. and Landon Horton, both of Southaven; grandmother, Virginia Walker Hence; grandfather, Alfred Walker; great-grandmother, Isabelle Walker, all of Natchez; 16 aunts, Doris Letcher of Houston, Arbordella Letcher, Ruth Hunt, Avis King, Georgia Anna Martin, Clarise Martin, Adrell Wright, Brenda Letcher, Stephanie Hence, Debra Hence and Ruth Hence, all of Natchez, Margaret Clark and husband, Ed, both of Jackson, Debra Martin and Jennifer Hence, both of Atlanta, Carla Walker Fair of Las Vegas, Nev., and Sherry Williams of Amarillo, Texas; three uncles, Donell Walker of Atlanta, Chris Hence and Willie James Letcher, both of Natchez; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be friends of the family.

When God calls his angels home it is a celebration. That angel never has to worry about tomorrow again. I pray for the family and hope that your pain will not consume you, but remember these words that "God will not put more on you than you can handle. So think of the fact that CHUCK is at peace, he is better off than we are at this point
