Jacob Ryan Marks, Natchez
1984 - 2008
Natchez — Services for Jacob Ryan “Jake” Marks, 24, of Natchez, who died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, in Jefferson County, will be at 10 a.m. today at Church Hill United Methodist Church with the Rev. Diane Woodall and the Rev. Ronnie Smith officiating.
Burial will follow at Donahue Plantation Cemetery on the Natchez Trace under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Jake was born Sept. 22, 1984, in Natchez, the son of Rusty and Terry Marks. Jake, the middle child, was a brother to Russ and Nicky Marks.
He was a 2003 graduate of Adams County Christian School. He was employed by Steve Robertson Construction of Church Hill.
Jake was well known for his work ethic and could always be counted on to lend a helping hand. Though quiet in demeanor, his sly smile gave insight to his personality.
Jake’s passion for the outdoors was evidenced by his love of hunting and fishing in his favorite time of the year.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Neet Marks, of Ferriday.
Surviors include his parents; his brother, Russ and wife, Beth, of Pearl; his sister, Nicky Marks, of Natchez; grandparents Ed and Romana Mardis, of Natchez, and Bobby Marks, of Ferriday; and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins by whom he will be truly missed.
Pallbearers will be Russ Marks, Dustin Perry, Emile Guedon, Jimmy Ray, Trey Mardis, Josh Powell, Eric Anders and Lee Blanton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Marks, David Robertson, James Sullivan, Colton Presscot and Jeremy Rehms.
Jake loved children of all ages so in lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or a children’s charity of your choice.
The family asks that you keep them in your prayers.

Rusty, words cannot express the sorrow we feel for you right now. We know your boys (and Nicky) were the light of your life, and we only hope God will ease your pain over time. Nicky and I have had numerous conversations on what it is like to be the only girl, and what our brothers meant to us, and I know she thought the world of Jake. Your family will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.

Rusty and Terry I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your child. I can't even begin to tell you how my heart hurts for you both and your entire family. I know you have had a difficult year and I'm sure your family is just crushed. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and my prayers as you go through this time in your life. I only wish I could be there to tell you all in person. GOD I pray that you would comfort this family at this time in their life and help them heal. Love you, Laureida

Rusty and Terry, We are so greived to hear of the loss of Jake and wanted you to know you are in our prayers for consolation from our Father in heaven. Your Great Aunt Mill (my mother) always said the loss of a child is something you never get over but with one day at a time you learn to endure. Please know we love you all and share your pain. Rosemary (Sullins) and Jim Taylor
