What it's all about
Published Monday, November 12, 2007
I can't step out our office door without hearing from you guys — the readers.
You tell me what you like about our paper, what you hate about our paper, which photos were good, which were bad. You tell me that you read our product every day. And you tell me that there's nothing in it worth reading.
I hear it all. I hear it at church, walking my dog, at K-Mart and at the dentist's office.
Not many other professions out there — aside from maybe football coach — can brag of such immediate, constant feedback.
Sure, sometimes I just want to get away from it all. But most of the time, I appreciate the words, positive or negative.
And often, some of you have questions for me about why the newspaper did something it did. Why we covered a story a certain way, or why we didn't cover it at all. You wonder about headlines, photos and story placement.
So, I hope to use this space over the coming weeks, months, years to give all of you a little insight into all of us.
When the big stories come, I'll work to tell you why the staff of The Democrat did what it did. And I'll tell you a little about the slow days too.
If you have a question you'd like answered, shoot me an e-mail and I'll do my best to address it here.
