Fido faces

I'm seeking dogs, cats or other pets who look and act like their owners. Hairstyle, head shape, etc.
If you or someone you know fits the bill, please let me know. I plan to do a story for our upcoming Profile edition about noteworthy resemblances.
Send me an e-mail at julie.finley@natchezdemocrat.com.

i don't know anyone who looks like their pet around here. i'm sure there are some that do though. lol
I know some real dogs, but I don't think that's what you were referring to. :-)
How about a story featuring several adoptable pets instead?
The humane society sure could use help in finding these helpless sweet babies a warm home!
I'm with Ntzmom! The Humane Society here is pitiful! Use the space to help them out. They provide a service for city and county alike and can't get funding to provide for these animals....much less house them in an appropriate environment.
Thanks hellcat! I hope Julie is reading this!
Spend the time taking sweet photos of these sweet animals,
Kids will see the page and beg their parents to go get one!
JULIE,
I will donate a little money to have them bathed and photo ready if you will do a story featuring these animals so they can find a home.
PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would love to see the Democrat post free listings with pics in the classifieds for the animals in the shelter. I just saw Brookhaven's paper and they had the cutest, well written listings for their shelter animals.
Thanks 30n23
I think Julies space would be much more useful and fun to look at it if she featured shelter animals that need homes.
Everyone will read it as well as ooh and ah over the pictures!
I so hope she does this!
Julie,
The feature you are thinking of doing....please rethink it.
these pampered poochies and kitties sleep in nice cozy beds with their owners and have so much love already.
Please help the cold lonely animals on death row at the animal shelter. please, please, please!!!!!
Julie, I agree with all the above. In fact, I'll give you another idea. Match up pound puppies with well know Natchez people! Shouldn't be too hard to do. I mean if certain guys can drop their pants for a bill-board, lots of people should agree to this!
All,
Thanks for the ideas on the Humane Society.
We've done such stories in the past, and I'm sure we'll do more in the future. We've also talked with the folks at the shelter about getting a weekly spotlight going.
There is plenty of space in the newspaper for your ideas and the story I'm planning on look-a-like pets.
My story is part of our upcoming Profile edition, which has a theme and 40-or-so stories that match it. Profile is a magazine that comes out on the last Sunday of February.
The Humane Society features would be better placed in the daily paper.
So, keep thinking about folks you know who look like their pets. I have two submissions so far, but am looking for a few more.
Thanks
Julie
I do not know the man but he and his pit bull look eerily alike.....they are out and about in the mornings downtown.
I dont know anyone who looks like their pets!!
thank you Julie for considering to one day help the animal shelter dogs.
Larry Holder at Wilson drugs and his dog Bell act alike!
Belle is sweet laid back Mastiff!
I agree with the beliefs of the Humane Society and I have helped them in the past. The Natchez Democrat needs to "picture" and help the public adopt more of these animals. I also believe that the current Mayor and the Board of Aldermen need to become more involved!
freedom2..i think that would be a great idea.ntzmom is rite about the poor animals at the shelter. The shelter should look at renting the pets for a weekend to help pay for food and shelter.there is alot of people in town that love animals but can take care of them 24/7.
IThanks everyone,
I mean this really is important. These animals cant help that they were born, They would love an owner so much, they would give their lives to protect us...and we do nothing to help them find home.
Sad, so sad that God's creatures are treated this way.
I already have 4 wonderful dogs, but I would love ten more! But my neighbors would kill me!
ntzmom, my daughter just brought home another homeless puppy. The girl who had the momma dog was going to put the last 2 in the shelter, but we have taken the little girl dog. Just what we needed to add - already have 4 dogs (2 adopted), 10 cats (8 adopted/showed up), chickens, horses, and a parakeet! Hope animals will be in heaven with me, or I won't know what to do with myself.
How hard is it for you people to understand? She is doing a story on dogs and their owners. They are already in talks with HS about weekly features. Instead of wasting your time posting nonsense post, you could be at the HS cleaning the place up. I took my child there once and can not get the smell out of my head.
We arent wasting our time, we are bringing awareness to an important issue.
Most of us just don't know anyone who looks like an animal (THANK God lol)
Wow Freedom, :) you have your share of babies dont you? That is awesome!
With all due respect, ntz155, no, these folks could NOT be at the HS "cleaning the place up." For one thing, there are liability issues, but more important, if you've been there, you know how small the space is--probably the last thing they need would be a few more people to trip over, no matter how well-intentioned those people are.
And just so you know, that place is about as clean as they can make it. They clean the animals' cages every day, hose down the floor, etc. When you put a few dozen animals in one small space, yes, there WILL be a smell.
If you really want to make a difference, make a cash donation to their building fund (AND adopt a pet or 2 or 3)so they can get a new facility, which they do desperately need. If you want to make even more difference, think spay/neuter--and if you know anyone who has "unfixed" animals and makes regular trips to the Humane Society to dispose of unwanted puppies or kittens, have a little chat with them about the inherent cruelty in their decidedly unChristian behavior.
All that said, ntz155 does make a good point: The story Julie is planning does not take away any potential coverage of the animals at the Humane Society; she is not publishing that INSTEAD of something about the homeless animals at the shelter. The two are totally unrelated.
And all THAT said, it's nice to know so many people care about the local Humane Society, and heartening to see them try to raise awareness, even in this limited forum.
Finally, if you get a chance, stop by the Humane Society and say hello to the animals, then say hello to the people who work there--Nezzie, Claude and Clyde--and tell them they're doing a great job, because they are. They DO care about the animals and try to do as "right" by them as they can, but resources are limited, their time is limited, and there are only three of them.
ntz155 I have done my share of time cleaning the shelter. Breaks my heart to go in there, but it is necessary that someone help. And I have donated time and money to fundraisers. I hope Julies story about the pets and people who look alike works out and she finds some. I had an email from a friend the other day just on that subject. But all we were suggesting is another story to raise awareness of the needs of the animals. Is that so wrong?
I have a friend who has a dog that looks like her. I will send you her info on your email. This is a cute idea!
I wonder if several people could/would get together and buy a house that we could renovate as a shelter.
Anyone know where a house is that would be a good location?
I will approach some people to ask for help!
Heck I need something to do!
Ntzmom, nice idea, but the Humane Society already has the land for the new facility, and I THINK has the plans--if you get a group together to buy a house, give the money instead to their building fund.
That said, I could think of no better use for one of those old antebellum mansions like Rosalie, etc. People would probably disagree with me on that one, however!
I know this is not a pet look alike response but I just wanted to add to the Humane society comments. anyone can help daily by using their computer. All you have to do is use goodsearch.com as your search engine and make sure the Natchez Humane Society is chosen in the cause field when you search. every search you do will donate to the shelter. I have it as my home page. Also if you are an internet shopper go to IGIVE.com and sign up chosing the Natchez Humane Society as your cause and everytime you shop on the internet if you go through this site the company you shop with will donate to the shelter. There are alot of stores on this site. you would really be surprised at how fast it can add up if everyone would use these sites. Please check them out. I do not work at the shelter but I have rescued many pets from there and I highly respect the people that do the great jobs that they do over there.
