Brown gets nod in sheriff’s race

Published Thursday, August 2, 2007

Four years ago, Adams County voters went to the polls and selected a new man to lead the county’s law enforcement effort.

When Ronny Brown was elected, the voters of Adams County sought a change from the status quo.

And, from our perspective, voters got just what they asked for — a change.

We think that change has been for the better.

From forming a “cold case unit” which has had good success to developing a program to use county inmate labor to keep roads cleaned, Brown seems to have kept up his end of the bargain.

He and his staff have provided a number of new programs that are helping the community.

Perhaps most important, though, Brown seems to have restored a sense of cooperation between the city and county law enforcement communities and that’s a credit to his skills as a people person.

For those reasons and more, we choose to endorse Brown in Tuesday’s Democratic Party primary for Adams County sheriff.

To change direction in midstream would not be in the best interest of the county.

We feel Brown is the best candidate and deserves our vote.
