Family of victim awarded millions
Published Tuesday, October 16, 2007
NATCHEZ —A judge has awarded the family of Christopher Bourdin $3 million in a civil suit filed against the man who admitted killing Bourdin.
But Jimmy Newton Pruitt III and his family will likely never be able to pay the money, attorneys involved in the case said.
Bourdin’s family was awarded $1 million in compensatory damages and $2 million in punitive damages.
Bourdin was killed on Nov. 18, 2003, when the young men were hanging out with friends. Pruitt was reportedly playing with a pistol.
Pruitt was pointing the loaded gun at himself and at others and pulling the trigger. When Pruitt pointed the gun at Bourdin and pulled the trigger the gun fired killing Bourdin almost immediately.
The two men were reportedly friends. Charges were originally murder, but were lowered to manslaughter by the court.
Pruitt pleaded guilty to the charges in September 2004 and was sentenced to 15 years in prison.
The verdict in the civil suit was returned last week.
“It will be tough to collect on,” said Grayson Lewis, one of the family’s attorneys.
Pruitt served just three years of his sentence.
“We’ll never see the money,” Bourdin’s mother, Karen Ewing said.
But Ewing does not care about the money.
“I want this to be a constant reminder to him (Pruitt),” Ewing said.
“It was pure stupidity.”
Ewing said she is also furious that Pruitt only served three years.
According to Lewis eight years of the 15-year term were suspended, leaving only seven to be served. Lewis said Pruitt was likely released on good behavior.
“He has still never even apologized,” Ewing said.

As I've said before, Judges are the reason for so much crime. Eight years suspended from 15? Served only 3 and out for good behavior? A life is only worth 3 years? Bourdin doesn't get a second chance because of good behavior because he is gone forever. They need to collect the $3 mils from the Judge who suspended the 8 years.

I agree with Bourdin's mother, Mrs. Ewing.
"It was pure stupidity."

The citizens of Natchez should look at WHO the judge was on this particular case. I've always said that some (not all) of the judges in Adams county are brain dead. The mere thought that you can kill someone and get only 3 years is shameful and that judge needs to be replaced. I challenge the citizens of Natchez to look into the criminal histories of the ones who are now terrorizing the decent law abiding citizens of Natchez, then look at the judge(s) who turn these hoodlums loose on the streets. If you are a judge and you don't like sending people to prison for 20-30 years then do everyone a favor and QUIT!!! I'm sick of all of this crap.
The police and sheriff's department can arrest all of them but elected idiots let them go. This is how it works people: (Little Johnny sells drugs, little Johnny gets arrested for selling drugs by the narcs, little Johnny then has to see a judge where a bond is set, little Johnny's bond is paid and he get out of jail, little Johnny's case is presented to court to see if there is enough evidence to have it bound over to the grand jury, if so, little Johnny's case is then presented to the grand jury months later where the grand jury feels that the case should go to circuit court for trial, the narc then checks with the D.A. on the status of his case where he then learns that little Johnny's case was either dismissed for lack of a speedy trial, retired to the files, or little Johnny stood before a circuit court judge and cried because he never got the G.I. Joe with the kung fu grip that he always wanted for Christmas and he's still traumatized over it, and he swears to go to church and clean out his neighbor's cat's litterbox three tims a week so the judge gives him PROBATION! Little Johnny then returns to the streets to sell his poison to people where he'll get caught again and this cycle of stupidity will repeat itself.
I'm sorry for venting on this site but I'm so tired of these people in the D.A.'s office and those who sit behind a judge's bench who tell us at election time that they are protecting us and our children and they do NOT!!!!

Yeah Hobgoblin !!
Natchez needs to take note of the judges records in these cases. Keep a check list, and take it on Election Day.
Its time for law abiding citizens to unite against this.

Hobgoblin, vent, vent, vent all you want because a lot of us feel the same way! It is a travesty! The team is not in place -- the police and sheriffs can't do it all by themselves.

I totally agree with all of you! The judge is totally at fault in all of this! Kinda funny the same judge who gave him a slap on the wrist is the one who awarded the money! And it was pure stupidity... and a shame he's showed no remorse for what he's done. So how long do you think it will be until he lands his butt back in jail? If the judges were to do their jobs and stop babying these criminals I would never even have to wonder about any of this!!!!

Irony: Judge sentences murderer to 15 years, He serves 3. Judge awards 3 million to greiving parents- they get ZIP. It's like he is trying to please everybody.... You win this, that one wins this one. AND EVERYBODY LOSES...
How terrible.

I've known this family my entire life and everytime I think about how much they got completely screwed by the system in Adams County it just makes me so mad! Chris's life was cut so short because his "friend" acted like an idiot! Then instead of punishing the guy they just slap him on the wrist like what he did was really no big deal! 3 years? Are you serious!? It was a big deal! HE TOOK A LIFE!!!! It was a VERY big deal! He pointed a gun at someone, pulled the trigger and shot him! Also, this family still mourns their son's death EVERY DAY! I just don't understand how anyone could kill their "friend" and not apologize to the family! I know that if this ever happened to me I would have been apologizing every single day for the past 5 years and he can't even apologize once!? UGH! People like that just make me sick! My thoughts and prayers are with Christopher's family everyday. Sorry about the rant but it just kind of poured out once I started writing.

He needs to clean out the Bourdin's cat box three times a week...and clean their toilets, mop their floor and cut their grass with a pair of scissors. Maybe if they make him dig a grave at the cemetery he would find some humility.

yes its public records! the transcript from the sentence hearing is also public record. so before casting stones and passing judgement maybe some of you all should read it before you mention remorse, apologies, humility , etc. JJ did apologize in court that day. JJ also told the judge he deserved whatever sentence he received. Stupidity? Very much so! Remorse? Plenty! Judge yourself before you judge others

Aside from not wanting to spend the rest of my life in prison, (or three years) I can think of many reasons why he should have known better. How old was he? Not that it makes a whole lot of difference. Anyone knows how totally senseless this death was. He should not have gotten off so lightly.

In response to hypnotiq_dreamer, apparently you're shoved up the Pruitt's A-- more than our corrupt judicial system. The family has NEVER received an apology from that little worm. But, that's ok, because with or without an apology his day is still coming. Maybe the government can't punish him but we all know that God will. And the thought of him burning in Hell puts a smile on my face.
This poor family has gone thru more than anyone will ever know. My heart goes out to everyone who has had a loved one taken from them. And the thought of JJ being free just makes me sick!!!!

Why did his friends even sit there and let him point a gun at himself and them? Was no one aware of what could happen? I am not trying to let jj off, he should still be in jail, but someone should have stopped this nonsense as soon as it started. Leaving the house might have been a good thing that night.

Pruitt sentenced to 15 years for manslaughter
Natchez Staff
Published Saturday, October 2, 2004
Pruitt sat, head down and teary eyed, through statements from seven friends and members of the Bourdin family and six statements on his own behalf before taking the stand himself. "First I'd like to tell Chris's family that I'm sorry," he said through tears. "I wish y'all could forgive me, but I can't forgive myself. I know I ruined a lot of lives and I know I destroyed a lot of people. "I do think about Chris every day. I relive it in my dreams every night. When I close my eyes I see myself holding Chris begging him to stay with me. "He's gone because I was irresponsible and stupid. In my heart it was an accident, but I cost the life of a very, very close friend.""I believe in my heart that I deserve everything the court does to me today," he said. "I deserve every last bit of it, not because I'm a murderer, because I'm not a murderer. I took a friend's life, not intentionally, but I still took it." Sanders told Pruitt she was happy to see him take the stand and accept responsibility.

mwhittington, that incident was on the news about 2 or 3 weeks ago. This incident happened in the Las Vegas area, I believe. This guy, I can't remember his name right now, filmed himself having sex with this 3-year old girl, named Madison. Madison was a child his girlfriend used to babysit. It turns out that this pervert brutally, and I mean brutally raped and sodomized this child on camera for about 30 minutes. The video was turned over to the authorities by another sex offender who claimed that he found it in the desert. He had shown the video to several people before he turned it over. However, he failed a lie detector test and went on the lamb a couple of days before he turned himself in for further questioning.
The pervert who did this to this baby is still out here somewhere. Clips from the video were shown on television and America's Most Wanted in hopes of catching him before he harmed this child further or killed her. Well, the daughter of the creep's girlfriend recognized his face, the little girl and the sheets on the bed and told her mother to watch the news clips. The girlfriend identified him and supplied the authorities with other photos and videotapes of this creep.
He is running and known to be a "survivalist" who has stated that he will not be taken alive. Oh well, drag him back dead. Then he will not hurt someone's child or given a slap on the wrist and turned back out on the streets in a couple of years to commit some more heinous crimes.

I bet he gets more than a slap on the hand! I too think it's a shame that people walk freely after murdering someone. What is three years of your life? Not enough punishment. I'm sure the Bourdin family would love to have three more years with their child. Alot of our judges are a joke in this country.

The rapist is from Vegas.
Posted by ijohnson (anonymous) on October 16, 2007 at 11:50 a.m. (Suggest removal)
Added note: The child he raped, Madison, is now 7 years old and appears to have NO memory of the incident. By all accounts she is a happy 7-year old.
I just don't understand why the mother can claim she had no idea this happened. We're talking about a 3-year old that you should still be bathing and caring for. Three-year olds can talk well enough to tell you they've had a "boo-boo" or something to indicate discomfort or pain in the genital area. But, the mother said she had no clue.
It appears that the rape he filmed was not the first time he had assaulted this child. He apparently did it before and had enough time to clean up any evidence of the crime. Surely, the child should have bled or something.
For the girlfriend and the mother to say they had no indications leads me to think that they must have been on drugs or something!! How could you not know?? How could you leave a little girl alone with a man you don't know? And, apparently, he had been left alone with her enough times (for extended periods of time) to feel very comfortable committing this crime with no fear of being caught by someone coming in on him.
It made my flesh crawl when I saw the news clips of it. I just couldn't get that child's face out of my head with her blonde hair draped over her face. S-o-o sad!!

There is more of this than is ever reported. Here in Adam's County it is rampart and believe it or not, most of it is incest. It can be right in your face and you not be aware of it. These animals need to be caught and branded on their foreheads so the whole world would be aware of their terrible crime. God has to have a special punishment in store for these horrible monsters. But like I say, they get away with it because it's never reported. Any creature that does this act should be boiled in oil and their bones crushed so there would never be any sign he/she ever existed in the same world with decent people. I try hard to live a Christian life, but this horrible act is unforgivable and unforgettable..

hypnotiq_dreamer-Apologizing in court doesn't even really count in my opinion and obviously not in Chris's family's opinion either. I mean how sincere is that? It just makes it seem like he's trying to get someone to feel sorry for him! If he was really sorry I feel like he would have apologized a million times in person, not just that one time in court when he was probably told to do so by his lawyer. I still don't think he understands, to this day, the magnitude of what he did. He has changed that entire family's life forever. I too see Chris's parents on a regular basis and like Hadenough said they still suffer with this loss everyday. It's so sad to see how much this has affected them and is still affecting them.

None of my family had a clue... It went on for as far back as I can remember. I remember the last time it happened like it was yesterday. When I finally made up my mind to call my daddy at work, and in between squalling, told him. He rushed home, never doubted me.... my grandmother and mother (thier son and brother) decided to pretend it never happened. But I wasn't forced to go to any family functions, like the rest of the cousins... I had older female cousins who after I told, came out he had done it to them also. It was a big ole fat mess.... but over the years, I have learned to deal with my issues, alone with God. And justice always prevails..... you may never know it, but it does... He lived a miserable life, and did the same thing to his daughter, and named her my name.... He died of a heart attack at an early age several years ago. In his early 40's. There is always more to a story, guys... somebody just may not feel like or be able to fill you in on the details.... ya know?

No, I don't know either young man. What I do know is that one is dead and one is free. No one said the Pruitt boy wasn't sorry for what he did. Most are saying that the sentence he receieved was not enough (which is a poke at the judicial system). Every side has two stories, the fact remains that the Bourdin boy is not around to tell his.

And no, I certainly have not ever killed anyone or been in prison, because I don't point my loaded gun in anyone's face. What excuse is there for that? It would be different if it were a vehicle accident. That, I could certainly see your point. You get into a car, have an accidnet and never intend to hurt someone. You load a gun, point it at someone and pull the trigger - that's no accident.

in response to froggie-- you make a very good point, but take time to look from both point of views. true if you was on the victim end you would be outraged regardless of circumstances. yet, if you was on the opposite side you would have hoped for mercy from the court. JJ did not ask the court to show mercy. He specifically told the judge he deserved whatever sentence he was handed. the whole situation is tragic. a life lost and a life of hatred for ones self. 2 families destroyed by stupidity. things happen in life that we wish to avoid that we wish never would've happened. but hind sight is 20/20. the only difference between chris and jj is that after it happened jj tried to drink himself to death where as chris would've had the guts to do it the right way. i know jj very well and i knew chris just as well. both did things in life they should've never done but they were wild teenagers. we all made mistakes at that age.

mwhittington, I know that it happens every day all over the world. Young, innocent girls AND boys are raped and molested, through no fault of their own. If the child has the courage to tell someone, you never know how it will be taken. Will he or she be believed???? Will the abuse continue if the child is not believed? Will something even worse happen?
I can't imagine how living with all this "stuff" could be. I do have cousins who have been victims of it and it affects EVERYBODY. Everytime I look at the person who harmed my cousins I cringe because I know that could have happened to me, too!! Too many times, those around you or close to you and the perpetrator will try to "keep it quiet" so nobody knows. Only to further confuse the child and put someone else in harms' way.
I do think that talking about it helps. It's sort of like when someone close to you dies, you want to talk about them and the good memories you hold because it makes you feel better. Talking about it helps to relieve a pinned up pressure you feel inside.
So, keep talking about it. Keep talking about it. Keep talking about it.

One family will have perhaps, grandchildren, that remind them of their son, or a daughter in law, or a whole passle of a generation to be born. Where one family has a DEAD BRANCH... DEAD... that isn't CHANGING....
Posted by froggie (anonymous) on October 16, 2007 at 12:55 p.m. (Suggest removal)
The fact still remains that one is dead. Stupidity shouldn't end that way. Sure, we all do, or have sone stupid things in our lives, but it didn't result in someone dying. I don't know how I would deal with causing the death of another human being. I don't think I could, but if it was a result of me pointing a gun and pulling a trigger, I would expect just that to happen. Anyone has to know that pointing a loaded gun is dangerous and can result in someone dying, right? I only hope that the Pruitt boy takes the time he has left to do something decent with his life and prove everyone wrong. After all, he has a second chance - Chris doesn't.

It's not about an open mind here. If you were a bit more open minded, you wouldn't be tryng to convince everyone that this boy is living in Hell. Someone died. It's a shame that he lives with greif and nightmares, but like i said, you shoot someone, shouldn't you fell guilty?

just curious about something hadenough. how intoxicated were you that night? also did you not spend time at JJ's house while he was locked up? just by the way you talk and having spoke with the whole pruitt family numerous times i can speculate as to who you are. as i can with brneyes too.

mwhittington- what if it would've been your son who pulled the trigger?
Posted by froggie (anonymous) on October 16, 2007 at 1:12 p.m. (Suggest removal)
It would be tragic no matter which side you're on. However, this young man killed another human by pointing a gun at him and pulling the trigger. I hate that he has to "live" with that grief. At least he is living. Like I said, I hope he uses his second chance in a positive way.

Then he would be useless to me. And himself. My son has been taught gun safety. I am an avid hunter. But if for some reason he went totally nutso and shot and killed somebody, then I would pray! and could never say I was sorry enough to that family, that in essence, it would be my fault their son was taken away. I brought him into this world afterall. It was my responsibility as a parent to teach him better. That doesn't seem to be the case here. I would want to be dead. I am not suicidal. But either way, my son would be dead to me, so I would not want to live.

If it had been my son who pulled the trigger, I must be honest and say that I know in my head my son should be severely punished for what he did, but in my heart, I would want him do as little time as possible. I would want to touch him and see him live a productive life. I would want him to have children, grandchildren and spend the rest of his days fishing and enjoying life. If my son had pulled the trigger, I know this is how I would feel.
However, no one can dismiss the pain and suffering BOTH families have endured. Carelessness mixed with alcohol almost always leads so something tragic. No one can tell one family or the other how to feel because I'm sure this tragedy and has totally torn these families apart and ruined many friendships.
Having read (on this forum) a little bit from both families regarding this issue, it appears the young man, Pruitt, apologized to the victim's family. Whether nor not they accept that apology appears to be playing itself out here. All we can do is hope and pray that tomorrow brings a better, brighter day. May the families involved and suffering from this tragegy find more peace and understanding with each and every day.
May God bless you all. I've been there and I know that it's not a good place to be. ONLY time will heal the wounds you feel so deep in your heart and your soul.
GO WITH GOD . . . HE'LL GO WITH YOU.

to mwhittington-the pruitt family attempted an apology. JJ's grandfather offered to buy the tombstone and pay all funeral expenses. JJ's father received a slap in the face literally and him and JJ's grandfather were told to go to hell. For all those who say JJ should apologize to the family answer me this- how is he to apologize when there is a restraining order against him? he is not permitted to visit the grave nor set foot near any members of the family. so to all the saints in natchez mississippi god bless your souls for being so ignorant and not knowing all the facts before you criticize and crucify.

Everyone is not perfect. Everybody has problems in there families. I will not set here and let you people bash my family any longer! People that live in glass houses should not cast stones..My family is kind, caring, loving and would give you the shirts off their backs and they have to many of you..We all feel remorse for the Bourdin family including my family. He is punished everyday that he wakes up in the morning and goes to bed at night having to relive that he took the life of his friend everyday. Yes he has a criminal record does that make he less human. No it does not! Chris was his friend the two of them got in trouble together they had each others backs.. And they both have been in trouble with the law.Yes it was stupidity that took Chris Bourdin's life. JJ's stupidity and he has to live with it everyday. My family has been tourmented by this as well..There were alot of people so called friend's to both parties that were there if they were in such fear of there lives why didn't they at any point pick up the phone and call 911 and report this before he pointed the gun at anyone including himself..He pled guilty, apologized, and told the judge to basically throw the book at him. There was no corruption in this case at all! How about everyone just step off! Everybody has opinion..This was a traggic event in everybodies life the family and loved ones of the Bourdin Family and my family and loved ones.I am deeply sorry for the lost of Chris Bourdin and deeply sure that JJ is also.I know I see him living with this on a daily bases. This was a terrible tragedy for both families.

my hatred for jj does not involve what happened with chris. it goes back a like a year before that. he knows he owes me an apology. he made a half hearted attemp at one before this happened but it was only so he could get something he wanted. what happened to me is something i think about everyday. it has had effects on my life that jj would never understand. part of me longs for an apology but in my heart i know that i will just make me angrier. and that is my problem i know. so there is no need to tell you who i am he know he might just have to think a little.

8 is the correct total of people there. Believe me I know for I was there too! I live with the constant nightmares as well. Someone did try to stop jj that night but he just would not listen. For all of you who were not there you should not cast stones either because you do not know what happened. And you also have no right to say someone lied about what happened either because you didn't see it for youself. And I also know the pain and sorrow the Bourdin's go through everyday because I have the joy of getting to see them and talk to them on a regular basis. I am a very good friend of Kris' mom and I see the pain in her eyes and hear it in her voice too! And also I don't think that you truly know who hadenough is because I honestly think that you think it is me however it is not! So maybe you should try again.

In response to the people who are saying what they would have done if they were there. I was there that night and we told J.J. to put the gun away repeatedly.I can not tell you how many times I have told myself if only we would have left the car lot that night Chris would still be alive, so you can not say what you would have done unless you have been put in that position which you were not. Chris was my best friend and I had to witness him die pretty much in front of me which is something I should not have had to go through. I was also there for the hearing when Judge Sanders royally screwed up when she only sentenced J.J. to 7yrs in jail with 8yrs probation so in response to hypnotiq_dreamer you should have noticed that there were not any tears in J.J. eyes and he never once looked at Chris's family. While on bail J.J. vandalized the country club, went around town telling everyone how he was going to get out of this situation and saying how he didn't do anything wrong. These actions do not show that he is sorry. In response to the comment about him getting out on good behavior is ridiculous being as he was in trouble in jail but that paper work was conveniently lost. The whole situation has been sabotoged by the corrupt system. It makes me sick when I think about J.J. being free and I will never see my best friend again because of him.

Don't be so harsh? Like the justice system was? Give him the easy way out all over again? I've been nice long enough. Yes he has to live with what he has done everyday but at least he's alive. Kris however is not! And doesn't have the chance to ever get married, have kids, live past his 21st birthday... Not only the family's lives were ruined but those of us who were there suffer everyday. Like I said earlier if you were not there you should not cast stones...

my question is the article stated jj was 'playing' with a loaded pistol... pointing it at himself and others AND PULLING THE TRIGER??? RIGHT??
IS THAT ATTEMPTED MURDER OR AGGREVATED ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON ON THE OHTER 'FRIENDS' HE WAS 'PLAYING' WITH???
WAS THERE NOT ANY CHARGES PRESSED AGAINST HIM ON THOSE OTHER LIFES HE COULD HAVE EASILY TAKEN AWAY THAT NIGHT LIKE HE DID WITH CHRIS'S??
WHY WASN'T THERE CHARGES AGAINST HIM ON THAT?

To buttercup,
No other charges were filed b/c we have a screwed up system and the pruitts have a way of making things disappear.

wow, this is a horrible mess. My heart goes out to Kris's family.
I know a few people who were there when this happened and they suffer panic disorder and their lives will never be the same, such a shame.
As far as the leagal sysyem...
my brother served 20, yes 20 years in prison for possesion of marijuana, (in another state of cpurse) yet in Natchez you can comment MURDER and only serve 3 years?
NEW JUDGES PLEASE

While J.J. was in jail he became a trustee which knocked 30 days off his sentence every month he was a trustee. You were not eligible to be in this program if you were in jail for drug charges or serving a life sentence. So tell me how it makes sense for a person who killed someone can knock days off their sentence but someone who sold drugs can not seems a little unfair doesn't it

Wanting Justice, it is unbelievably UNFAIR.
I mean I detest drug dealers as much as murderers, I do....
they are both the scum of the earth in my eyes.
my brother was a marijuana user, he never sold, but kept getting arrested for possesion, and after the 3rd time, he was sentenced to 20 years and served 10 of them.
Murder was comitted here, hell did they have the oj dream team at this trial or what?

a few months after i moved to the coast i was informed about Kevin book and the horrible crime he committed i was around a few friends and i was telling my boyfriend about it, and before anyone even knew what town i was going to say Kevin committed the crime in (before they even knew i was from NATCHEZ) 2 of the people blurted out, 'DANG, ARE YOU SERIOUS YOUR FRIEND JUST SHOT AND KILLED TWO PEOPLE? TOO BAD HE DIDN'T COMMIT THE CRIME IN NATCHEZ YOU CAN GET AWAY WITH MURDER IN THAT TOWN FROM WHAT WE HEAR'
that was their exact words!! and my mouth just dropped! i told them that it had happen in NATCHEZ and told them that they just said that because they knew i was from that town.. one of them spoke up and said 'i swear to you i didn't know you were from NATCHEZ. we just know from a close family member that you can get away with murder up that way...
now what does that tell us? i didn't get the family members name he was speaking of because i was too ticked off that he would talk about my home like that and i was trying my best to defend it.... but i was only slapped in the face especially after reading articles here in the ND... so now i will just let people talk of my home town like a GET OUT OF JAIL FREE CARD...
GRR IT BURNS MY BUTT!!

This whole situation is a big mess. I don't think anyone would want to be in the shoes of anyone involved in this case. I'm sure the parents of Chris are living a nightmare every single day. I'm sure the person who did this to him lives in his own Hell and I can't even imagine having to witness this incident. I'm sure that in intself was horrible. The only good that can come of this is for people to learn how quickly bad things can happen. And I hope young Mr. Pruitt will learn from this and make some changes in his life. It's not too late.

Three days after this boy posted bail for the shooting, he and two other boys vandalized the golf course at Beau Pre to the tune of Thousands of dollars. He was so "TORN UP" about what he had done, he went out drinking and getting into more trouble. That sentence was a joke and the judge that handed it down should be removed.

I THOUGHT THAT WAS HIM!! AND I WAS GOING TO PUT MY TWO CENTS IN ON IT IN THIS FORUM... BUT I WANTED TO MAKE SURE MY 'FACTS' WERE STRAIGHT BEFORE I GOT BASHED... WHAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND THOUGH IS HOW DOES THE 'PRUITT' FAMILY HAVE 'PULL' AND CAN 'COVER' THINGS UP?? THE ONLY THING I'M AWARE OF THAT THEY HAVE GOING FOR THEM IS A USED CAR LOT WITH NOTHING BUT PIECES OF METAL CLUTTERING UP THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY... HAVE YA'LL NOTICED THE SHAPE THAT CAR LOT IS IN... I CAN'T HELP BUT NOTICE IT WHEN I PASS THROUGH COMING HOME...
anyway... i still would like to know why no charges where filed for 'attempted murder or aggravated assault with a deadly weapon' 8 COUNTS!! (isn't that what i read 8 other people were there having a 'friend' point a loaded gun at them pulling the trigger?)
my heart goes out to the BOURDIN family.. and the family of JJ.. but it has no feeling towards JJ himself...
it also amazes me that he is bee-popping around town like he's laughing into the faces of the family that can't have a son to watch bee-pop around any longer....

They have had the pawn shop in Natchez for years!!!!!! On St. Catherine street...At one time they had there other son a pawn shop in Mccomb,Ms.....
see what ends up happening when your Grandfather pays your way out of trouble all the time!!! Makes you stop and think maybe the parents and Grandparents of children should let them pay there price and just MAYBE something like this situation could be avoided....Was there drugs involved that night???? Was it just drinking??? Was he ever in a part of the services?? Why isn't he still there?? Maybe got into trouble there also???

From what i understand...Jimmy Pruitt got hurt in the oilfield years ago and came into some money....but i DO NOT know that to be a fact.....
I also heard that JJ is going to be a daddy is there anything to that?

All this proves is that there isn't always justice in the justice system. A friend of mines was killed, the suspect got a man slaughter charge....and sadly enough, he never touched the inside of a jail cell. 5 years probation, and he only served about a year and a half. So things like this happen all the time. I think they just don's take man slaughter charges as serious as they should be...

as i said before the DA only wants a conviction to go under his belt!!! if he Can get a guilty plea then he don't have to do any extra work.. so of course if a murder has the option of manslaughter and only staying in jail a couple years rather then life he is going to take that bargain!! heck i would if i went around shooting people!! doesn't the DA have to go through election too??? ya'll should think about that next when his time rolls around again.... :)

Saint JJ? I do believe that is the same kid that have gotten away with other things like taking advantage of a young girl years ago and "nothing" happened but misery to the young girl and family. But there is a JUDGE and His name ISN'T Lillie B. Sanders. or any of the other names of judges who let abuser and killers go free. Honestly before I even read who the judge was- I thought "must be Lillie B. Sanders'
I know of people who have spent more time in prison for stealing and writing checks.

You can tell from the number of comments that this really has gotten under the skin of a lot of people. But I wonder if there is any way to rectify the situation? Remove Sanders as a judge? I want the Democrat to print the conviction and sentencing records of all the judges in Adams Co. This sentence was a travesty!! And as far as the Beau Pre incident, she wouldn't allow it to be admitted into the record in court.

I was wondering if anybody knew about the murder that his father commited. I did. They man he murdered was my step father. And nothing was done about it.

yes it was La. My mom and step dad were seperated at the time and my step dad started seeing another lady and he went over to her house one day (or night I don't remember) and Mr. Pruitt was there. I don't know for sure if they got in an argument or what, but he shot my step dad in her house.

Thank You Hadenough. I'm just glad someone else knows about this. Everyone that mentions their name to me, and I ask them if they knew about what he did, nobody ever even heard about it. I just don't see how you can kill someone and it just get swept under a rug and just forget about it.

Well... I for one, am certainly glad, that the comments of today actually make sense when you read them.... How old are these kids commenting on here??? I am assuming they are kids because of the horrible grammer... Lord knows, I don't have excellent grammer, but I surely hope you guys can even understand my sentences!!!! instead of sitting there scratching your head saying "HUH??" That's what I have been doing this morning, while I was trying to catch up on this article. I gave up.

I am sorry , but you all are geting way off the subject! You cannot blame someone else for someones mistakes! The Pruitt family has NEVER EVER been nothing but good to me! JJ was wrong, and it was stupidity! His family is good people! I have been around them my whole life! That is all that I am going to say , and may God Bless you people that are just to stupid to realize that words do not kill, but they do hurt! So, Have a good day! and later!

I am sure they made about as much sense as the unreal comments that they were making... upholding JJ... I pray every single day that my own kids don't do this to me and test my parental allegiance. And if they do, that I have the strength to do the "right" thing....
