Why does this story justify a headline in today's paper?

Gemccull you are so right. You know we could stand to
read about a turtle losing his shell!!!

The U.S. is experiencing the beginnings of a breakdown of society . It's smoldering now . You haven't seen nothing yet ! We will eventually become one of the most dangerous places to live on earth . It's not just little ,ole Natchez . Whose to blame ? Start with the crooked, sell out politicians in Washington . This thing is much bigger than the common street crimimal or pond life thug roaming the streets .
I agree , we all know that bad things happen . That's life . But on the front page ! Good news would be refreshing to read about every morning . Relegate the bad news to the back page or something . We know how to find it .

I'm sorry to say, but, it's as though we're out of good news, or the good news is just too darn boring to read. Yes, the crime is right here in little ol Natchez. But, thankfully, the Democrat makes us aware of it and we can stay on our toes. We can know where the bad places are and where we shouldn't be. We should always be aware that there is crime and bad people ready to pounce on the innocent. Know what's going on around you. The more informed we are, the safer we'll be.

Does this ring a bell with anyone? BROTHER AGAINST BROTHER---FATHER AGAINST SON----ETC, it's a BIBICAL PREDICITION.

Brod, it's sad to say but there is no safe place to run. There is soooo much happening -- so many brazen and heinous crimes being committed. You really can't feel safe in your own home. I live a major metropolitan area and a couple of days ago, a man shot and killed a guy breaking into his home before day in the morning. This older gentleman had a parrot for an alarm system!! LOL!! :-) The burglar had to figure that someone would be home at that hour in the morning but it didn't stop him. Only a bullet did!

Also, this week, a business owner shot and killed a burglar coming into his mechanic shop late at night (the 3rd person he has shot within the last 30 days). The old guy lived in the back of the business, had an alarm that sounded, got his gun and killed him. This was the 3rd burglar he has shot -- 2 of them died, within 30 days!!!!

It is good to know where the majority of the crimes are being committed to avoid those areas of town and minimize your risks. However, I personally think that a lot of this crime is driven by drugs, not lack of morals or upbringing. The users and sellers are at the root of a lot of these burglaries, robberies, carjackings, and senseless murders. A lot of these people are just out of their minds -- in search of anything to pay for those drugs their bodies are craving. The rest of these heinous crimes are committed by folks who are just plain evil.

What a simplistic view to have about crime . Any reasonably intelligent individual realizes that crime can occur anywhere . I mean anywhere ! It happens in opulent gated communities ,posh suburbs, shopping centers ,etc . Like criminals don't have access to cars to commit their crimes . Criminals are highly mobile . Crime can occur anywhere !

Exactly, Justice...Is it not better to be for-warned? Be careful and be mindful of what is around you. Yes, this story does justify being on the front page. It gets our attention and then we can follow what the judicial system is doing about these criminals, druggies, and thugs. We don't deserve to be victims. We owe it to each other to be victors and push them out of the community. Push them back to the places where there are more of their kind and let them shoot or stab each other out of existance. We've got to take Natchez back.

The newspapers and the local and national networks make their money from reporting "bad news". The news broadcasts are mainly made of stories about crime. Newspapers sell when the headlines are about something bad. However, it is good, sometimes, to turn the television off and not allow a lot of negative news and thoughts to enter our minds.

Just look around at these forums, bad news gets a lot of readers and commenters! It's not ideal but that's the way it is!!!

What you are describing is ostracism . Ostracism is good . I believe it would work in a civilized society . Just because an individual looks human doesn't mean he is . Many of these criminals are simply animals disguised as humans anyway .
Yes , information is good and does have its place .

Well done ijohnson ! You hit the bull-eye .

Posted by ijohnson (anonymous) on October 17, 2007 at 6:32 p.m. (Suggest removal)

justice, I think you've hit on something there . . . "many of these criminals are simply animals disguised as humans. "

Did you hear on the news or read about the 20-year old woman, Megan Williams, who was held captive for about a week in West Virginia? Six monsters made this woman do unspeakable things, i.e., eat dog and rat feces, drink urine, engage in perverted sex acts, and a lot of other unspeakable things. The six pieces of spit that did this stuff to her have been arrested.

It was disgraceful and outrageous what these six monsters did to this young woman. Yet, it didn't receive hardly any news coverage.

What was done to this woman was unspeakable. How can human beings living in a civilized era behave in such a manner? These acts go well beyond being a violation of civil rights, these were crimes committed against humanity.

It seems like every person in Natchez that does wrong gets off with a slap on the hand....

Posted by jammin1 (anonymous) on October 17, 2007 at 6:47 p.m. (Suggest removal)

As long as humans walk this earth there has been and will be stories of the horrible things we do to each other. We ARE animals, we are the most dangerous animals on the planet. We can think we are civilized, but as soon as we are tested we revert right back and growl and bite anyone or anything that gets near us. It's called original sin and started when CAINE killed ABLE. As time goes by it will get worse. As destiny already pointed out in another post "brother against brother, father against son etc;" There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

I would like to know if anybody heard about Megan Williams' ordeal? If so, please share your thoughts.

Posted by jammin1 (anonymous) on October 17, 2007 at 7:10 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Yes, I saw the news on CNN when it broke. My thoughts would get my comment deleted. My stomach turned when they showed the animals that did that to her and showed where they kept her. Those creatures are a direct product of severe inbreeding. Take them out back and put them down.

Is'nt that one of the most vile and disgusting things you've ever heard in your life? Those ppl are crazy. That poor girl.
courttv.com has current news about the case. Put west va torture in their search bar. Theres about 5 articles on the case.

Yes, I too saw this news when it broke and it made me
sick to my stomach. I was as repulsed by the sight of
these creatures as I was by their actions. I'm an animal lover and frankly, these monsters are beneath
all animals. If I were to express my true feelings,
I would be deleted big time and rightfully so. I do
have strong feelings as to what I would like their
punishment to be.

Posted by ijohnson (anonymous) on October 17, 2007 at 8:54 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Yeah, dottie, I initially used "animals" when I was writing my comments but changed it to "monsters" because to call them "animals" was be disrespectful to the animal species. That scum isn't good enough to be called "animals".

I am really concerned about her health. I'm sure they're pumping all kinds of antibiotics into her to ward off any diseases. Even so, how could you not get a disease from eating that stuff!!!

Another thing, the ugly mother who was really perpetrating quite a bit of this on Megan stated that they were discussing killing her. They were going to kill her after the got tired of torturing her. Thank God for the anonymous caller who lead the police to that trailer!!!

This is the kind of stuff that really makes you seek justice based on the premise: "an eye for an eye"! Let their food and drink be the exact same thing they fed her.

It makes me sick to think about it and feel what I feel when I know I don't have such a cruel heart. But, this kind of stuff warrants the same treatment.

The ppl that commited this HORRIBLE CRIME on this poor girl are ABSOLUTE TRASH. EVERY ONE OF THEM.

Did anyone hear about the man that killed his 2 stepchildren and shot the wife then killed himself after a six hour standoff with the police. The young lady (child) was one of my students. She was the sweetest person in my class. Every morning I was guaranteed to get a hug and a smile from her.......made my day, because I would get it before she went home too. She will surely be missed. Check the startelegram.com for estranged wife.
