Having spent so many years in a neighbor state, one would expect Clinton to have a place in her heart for Mississippians. But obviously not. Her comment about us in Iowa was uncalled for and obviously a play on old bigotries. This was an insult to all Mississippians that have tried so hard for so many years to overcome. What is ironic is that her own claim to fame is not based on merit but rather on marriage.

What a marriage she has.....Letting her husband run over her like he did.....I mean come on now....she can NOT stand up to him what would make anyone think she could or would stand up for the USA????

And i see they didn't like my other comment on her......GO McCLAIN!!!!!

I agree with you oldgranddad

What y'all talking about? I never heard such nonsense. Bill Clinton was a great President and he did a great job in America and around the world. The only thing different than FDR, Ike, JFK, RFK, MLK and on & on was they REPORTED on what Clinton did. All the others were the same-or worse. Who are you to judge whether she should stay with him? It's easier to leave than fight for your marriage. You're not SUPPOSED to give up (maybe that's news to you all?) As for Hillary. She's the best. She works hard, she knows her business, she keeps fighting for the people that need help the most. She was great in Arkansas fixing the worst public education system and making it one of the best. She's spent her whole life working for kids with foster care and those head start programs and now she's done a great job for the troops getting them armore and making sure the army pays them a living wage when they're injured. You look at all the military folks--they love Hillary. As for Mr. Obama. I won't vote for him. He's a do-nothing, say-nothing and all the folks around here voting for him cause he's black are going to be real sorry when he screws up bad.

Posted by destiny (anonymous) on March 10, 2008 at 6:29 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Well, well, well. The Clinton's did so much for Arkansas???? But they are so happy to have them gone from their state. They certainly don't want them back and they made that all to abundantly clear. Fight for her marriage???? She has done nothing but ride on the coat tail of a sexual bigot who did nothing for America but embarrass the whole nation. How anyone with a right mind can forget that is beyond any reasoning. She condoned his sin by acting like it was nothing. To her, it probably wasn't, since it was an everyday thing in her life. It makes a sane person wonder if the sin doesn't go as far as young girls. Never think she's there for you, because she isn't. She's not fit to reign over America.

She did not divorce him becaue they have had a plan from the beginning to get her in the White House.

But think of the possibilities if Owhampy could win...The white house, with lime green shutters....lol....Just Kidding.....

He is going to be at JSU tonight. It is under extreme security right now. Saw it earlier on TV. It is in the worst part of Jackson, so I guess they have to be extra careful to insure his safety in that area.

Posted by Incognito (anonymous) on March 10, 2008 at 7:53 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Of course the "pubs" are pulling for the big "H". The know they will have a better chance of winning the White House if she wins the democratic nomination.

Well ShenetBell, Obama spoke out against the war and provided a detailed analysis as to why the war would be a mistake. Obama has also been extremely active in getting Chicago children insured. He has also authored and co-authored a number of bills. Check the demographics of those voting for Obama, and you'll find that Obama has a very diverse consitutiency. It just ain't black folk supporting him....

I don't care what part of Jackson it is in, being a Jackson State Alum, I NEVER had a problem while on campus, I chose the school twice for my degrees and I am proud to be educated from there. Security is tight, but it would be ANYWHERE a presidential candidate would go. Not sure what the angle is on that post, but whatever.

Obama has no chance of winning. Have you seen the picture were everyone is saying the Pledge of Allegiance with their hands over their hearts, except for Obama. Barrak Hussain Obama is a Muslim in disguise. The Republicans want Obama to be the nominee so they will have at least 4 more years in the Whitehouse.

ShenetBell - I don't know what military you know because all the ones I know loathe her, can't stand her and hated her husband too. And believe me I know a lot more military, current and retired, than you do.

Oh and I forgot to mention. Lots of women will vote for Hillary just because they think its time for a woman to have the Whitehouse. Lots of African-Americans will vote for Obama just because he's black. Lots of Democrats will vote republican this time because they don't want a woman or an African-American in the Whitehouse. "That's just the way it is, somethings will never change."

Posted by Incognito (anonymous) on March 10, 2008 at 8:16 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Ok, so America wants to stay at war and end up with trillons of dollars in debt? Republicans have had there say, and quite frankly I'm tired of them. In the words of Patti LaBelle, "It's a new day."

shenetbell, Bill Clinton sexually harrassed women and is accussed of rape by another. How is that considered great? Why is he still a star in the eyes of democrats? If he were a Republican he would have resigned in disgrace.

Obama=rookie with no business running, Clinton=crook, McCain= war hero and patriot. You decide.

Yes, the race for the White House is on fire. As a democrat, The White House "DO NOT NEED ANYMORE BUSH'S or CLINTON'S to be president. It's time for a change. America don't be fool--Hillary's will do anything or say anything to get in the White House and she does not have the people interest at heart. Mississippian's don't be fool--she does not care about your state. If she is the nominee I will not vote in the Nov. election. For the record, I would not allow her to be the president of my dogs and I don't even own any dogs.

The Republicans and true conservatives don't even care for McCain, that's something you would like to keep secret. With his views on abortion, etc, they don't really care for him, but will settle, because it seems to be all you can muster.

Shenetbell I agree with you. I've never understood the Hillary-hating, but I know it goes way back to Bill Clinton's first presidential campaign. People have been hating her since WAY before Bill philandered. It's like homophobia - you know how some people think it's contagious, or worse still, that there's some kind of convert-and-conquer effort? Hillary-hating and homophobia: I can see very clearly that they exist, that the affected individuals feel very passionately and emotionally about them, but I've never really understood either. Do I LOVE Hillary? Nah. But I don't count her as different from any other human-being-slash-politician. That's what she is, nothing more and nothing less.

Both parties have bowed to greed. Wouldn't it be nice to have a middle point that most of us could agree upon? I'm tired of the tug of war. And the sad thing is, the two party system plays us like violins - and we let them. Neither side is right and just all of the time. I wish we had a viable third party that if nothing else, made the other two have to tell us all their details, not just their dreams.

I'm not voting for Obama because I am fearful of his Muslim background. According to the book of Revelations, he fits right in for allowing radical Muslims to take over our blessed America.

I'm not voting for Billary because I don't believe she is the right woman for the highest seat in the country. She can hardly manage her campaign, much less an entire country that's supposed to be the strongest in the world.

It's not that Obama is black, he's just a radical Muslim-in-disguise.
It's not that Billary is a woman, she's just not the RIGHT woman.

That is why she is the right woman for the job.

GopherBaroque: your comments depicted below are inaccurate:
"Obama has no chance of winning. Have you seen the picture were everyone is saying the Pledge of Allegiance with their hands over their hearts, except for Obama. Barrak Hussain Obama is a Muslim in disguise. The Republicans want Obama to be the nominee so they will have at least 4 more years in the Whitehouse."

CNN, MSNBC, and other news networks have informed the public, that the images of Barack Obama were misleading. Barack Obama does infact salute the flag of the United States of America, he is an intelligent man, therefore, we can deduct that he has enough sense to salute the flag. The picture was taken during the National Athem, in wich citizens can either remain with their hand over their heart, or they may choose to stand and sing along. The athem does not require a salute. The issue that needs to be addressed is Hillary Clinton, and her attempt to woo the citizens of Mississippi, knowing she thinks very little of them, but now she finds herself needing the very citizens she insulted in the Des Moines Register.

Posted by evadst96 (anonymous) on March 10, 2008 at 10:05 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Hillary boasts years of political experience, and has said that the citizens of the UNITED STATES of AMERICA should act as if they are hiring an employee, and hire the best qualified candidate. Well, Mrs. Clinton, can you please cite for us where your years of experience are coming from. Will you please pull out your resume, and show us where your direct foreign policy experience is, or where you negotiated any foreign affairs. Can you provide us the contracts or treaties with your signature on them for review? If you cannot, then can we suppose that you do not have any more Presidential experience than Barack Obama or any other hopeful.

Hillary Clinton has openly criticized the state of MS and its residents. Former Gov. Ray Mabus acknowledged the insult and is supporting the Democratic candidate with high regard for all citizens, whether they are Mississippians or Iowans, Caucasian, African-American, or other and that candidate is Barack Obama. Hillary Clinton made these comments knowing her intent to run for President of the UNITED STATES of AMERICA! How can you be the President of the UNITED STATES of AMERICA with skewed views of one or more of the states and the inhabitants?

Posted by evadst96 (anonymous) on March 10, 2008 at 10:08 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Barack Obama has exemplified strong financial management, and has excelled in all the other assets mentioned previously. Now, let us look at the resumes of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, and first make sure that the experience is credible. Hillary Clinton is running as the first female Presidential hopeful, wanting the support of women, feminist, and anyone else who will bite. The question is, if we are going to elect the first female President of the UNITED STATES of AMERICA, don't we want that female to be a real Independent and Ethical woman, who is not riding the coat tail of her husband when it is beneficial to her plight, and hopping off when it is not? I have certainly decided who I am hiring, because it is the only choice that can and will hold up. Barack Obama!

Posted by evadst96 (anonymous) on March 10, 2008 at 10:08 a.m. (Suggest removal)

As we all know, the best job experience is on the job experience, so until any Presidential hopeful has had the reins handed to them, no one has Presidential experience. The likely tool that most employers, would use to determine the best candidate for a position that has not ever been held by any of the applicants, is to look at character: Trustworthiness, Intelligence,Work Ethic,Team Building,Team Working, Attitude, Flexibility, Enthusiasm, Efficiency, Communication skills. Clinton cannot manage her own campaign, they were in the negative until February; there is constant turmoil among her campaign staffers; and not to mention, “Where are her tax returns?”

Old Lady Clinton HAS pooped in her Easter basket as far as Mississippi is concerned! What was she thinking? And people want her to lead our country? Let me get back in the bed.
evadst96...it may not be required to salute the American flag or put your hand over your heart during the anthem, but it is downright UN-AMERICAN not to do so. It's a slap in the face of all our war veterans, alive and dead, who defended our freedoms; it's also repulsive to those of us who love our country.

Barack Obama is not a Muslim, he has stated this many times before. Children are born every second, and I would be astonished if any were to pick their own name at birth. We all have either experienced ourselves, or witnessed the embarrassment a name can cause. Barack has acknowledged that his name caused a great deal of taunting when he was growing up, and even more now, in the public limelight. Let's be intelligent adults, and understand, that a name is just a name. It is what you do in the span of your life, while having that name. Many Latinos have the name Jesus, does that make them Jesus? They could never, as average citizen's live up to the name of my savior, Jesus.

The book of REVELATION tells of a one-world religion (Satan) trying to take over the world. America is part of the world. It is obvious this radical religion is recruiting followers at an alarming rate. Any religion that grows so fast, demanding its followers kill to please their god is just plain scary. If Obama was raised by a radical Muslim, then he probably still carries its principles in his heart. I don't want to take the chance in this day and time. VERY IMPORTANT FOR THE TIMES!
James 5: 1-9

1. Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.

2. Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten.

3. Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire. Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.

4. Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.

5. Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.

6. Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you.

7. Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

8. Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh.

9. Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.

Again, on the occasion in reference, Barack Obama did, and does salute the American Flag. However, in the image depicted, Barack Obama, happened to not have saluted during the National Athem...on this one day, this one instance. Maybe he caught a leg cramp, maybe his side was itching, maybe he stood contemplating in his mind and heart all the good he wants to do in this life and dropped his hand by the overwhelming knowledge of how difficult this task would be. My point is, if we had to measure anyone, by the one instance of not having hand over heart during one instance of the singing of the National Athem, we would all be doomed.

Who is Barack Obama?

Probable U. S. presidential candidate, Barack Hussein Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Barack Hussein Obama, Sr., a black MUSLIM from Nyangoma-Kogel, Kenya and Ann Dunham, a white ATHEIST from Wichita , Kansas.

Obama's parents met at the University of Hawaii.

When Obama was two years old, his parents divorced. His father returned to Kenya. His mother then married Lolo Soetoro, a RADICAL Muslim from Indonesia.

When Obama was 6 years old, the family relocated to Indonesia. Obama attended a MUSLIM school in Jakarta. He also spent two years in a Catholic school.

Obama takes great care to conceal the fact that he is a Muslim. He is quick to point out that, 'He was once a Muslim, but that he also attended Catholic school.'

Obama's political handlers are attempting to make it appear that that he is not a radical.

Obama's introduction to Islam came via his father, and that this influence was temporary at best. In reality, the senior Obama returned to Kenya soon after the divorce, and never again had any direct influence over his son's
education.

First of all OldGrandDad has it 100% right, no Muslim would masquerade as a Christian for 20+ years. Now, I am not a supporter of Muslims, and do not affiliate with their beliefs, because I am a Christian. I will however, say that Muslims are proud of their religion, they will boast their affiliation, and would never deny it, as Barack Obama has, infact, the act of denouncing and rejecting, would have a Muslim driven from membership. Know the facts, before chatting away without merit.

((ShenetBell)) Sure all the presidents have had dirty laundry in their closet, they are human. The only difference in Bill Clinton & the other presidents is he made a public statement & lied to the nation. Here's a youtube video to refresh your memory:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=KiIP_KDQmXs

As for Hillary she "stood by her man" all with her future in mind. Like ((destiny)) said she has been riding on his coat tail all the way. They are a team & it's been that way since day one & they seem to want to take the country down the gutter with them. I for one will not stand by & let this she devil ruin the future of our country. Of course it's not completely in my hands who will be president, but I believe if she or Obama are elected we will be in grave danger.
As for her representatives coming to Natchez it would take alot more than that to impress me.
I have notice quiet a few Ron Paul signs around town so maybe he is the best choice for what this country desperatly needs. We need to get all this sexual drama out of the White House & get a real president!

I think this particular Democratic primary comes down to one question: who is the lesser of two evils? On the surface, if we believe that both candidates are 100% truthful, Obama seems the clear-cut winner. However, given that this is politics, that assumption cannot be made.

Just thinking about Hillary gets my dander up. She has shown herself to be someone who will do whatever it takes, including ignoring marital infidelity, to get where she wants to be. That sort of person cannot be trusted.

On the other hand, Obama seems, on the surface, to be trustworthy and above board. That being said, he has too many ties to the Islamic world to be ignored. We have only his word to say that he himself is not a Muslim. While that very well may be true, at this point in our country's history, we cannot afford to take even the slightest chance that he is a Muslim. And, unfortunately, there's more than a slight chance.

I never thought in a million years that I would say this, but I think in this case Hillary is the lesser of the two evils and I think she should be the Democratic candidate.

If the ticket is Democrat Obama vs Republican McCain, McCain wins. If the the ticket is Democrat Clinton vs Repuclican McCain then it might still be McCain. If Nader truely does run as an independent he will pull Democratic votes from Clinton and McCain will have the advantage.

Bobaloo, when it comes to religious faith, documentation doesn't matter. There is only one person who can know what's in Obama's heart and that's Obama. I know plenty of people who claim to be Christians who probably aren't, but you wouldn't know it by their documented deeds and affiliations. The same can be said of people of any other faith. Closed mindedness and stupidity have no part of it. I think it's entirely possible, even likely, that he's not a Muslim. There's just always that small chance that he is and even a small chance is too much.

Interesting that Hillary is fond of claiming to have been a key player in the formulation of Clinton Foreign Policy: 9/11 was a direct result of the Clinton Administration’s feckless responses to the numerous Al-Qaida provocations and terrorist assaults against our national interests; as well as, Clinton’s inexplicable temerity in refusing to take Osama bin Laden into captivity when offered several times by the Sudanese. Clinton then exercised little more than his jawbone as bin Laden trained literally thousands of terrorists in his Afghan camps. All of which, convinced bin Laden that he could strike our homeland with relative impunity. The potential for success in bin Laden’s planned assault on our homeland was significantly enhanced by the infamous Gorelick memo, (Jamie Gorelick being a Hillary protege'), which the Clinton Administration promulgated to prohibit any terrorist information exchange between our FBI and CIA intelligence operatives. Further, in the Dec. 4, 1998 Presidential Daily Intelligence Brief , Clinton was advised that Bin Laden was preparing to hijack US aircraft to employ in terrorist attacks against our homeland. He was apparently too consumed in his pursuit of Monica to take follow-up action. However, history will record the most heinous assault on America's national security interests by a U.S. president as Clinton's transfer of our most advanced missile guidance technology to the CHICOM for a few campaign shekels. A CHICOM financial arrangement which Hillary continued under Norman Hsu and her ChinaTown dishwasher scam. Does any rational person really want to return the Clinton cabal/scandals to the White House? Greg Neubeck

They don't care. Also, I wonder did anyone see when he "went off" on a reporter. Take a look (starting @ the 2nd paragraph)

McCain Asked About Kerry’s V.P. Offer
By Elisabeth Bumiller

“He is, as he describes himself, a liberal Democrat,’’ Mr. McCain said, adding that he meant no offense by the term. “I am a conservative Republican. So when I was approached, when we had that conversation back in 2004, that’s why I never even considered such a thing.’’
Later, aboard his campaign plane, when Mr. McCain was asked about the conversation – and why he said in an interview with The New York Times in May 2004 that he had not even had a casual conversation with Mr. Kerry on the topic – Mr. McCain displayed some of the temper that he has largely kept under control in this campaign.

“Everybody knows I had a conversation,’’ he angrily told this reporter as his plane headed from Atlanta to New Orleans. “Everybody knows that, that I had a conversation. There’s no living American in Washington, there’s no one, and you know it, too. You know it. You know it. So I don’t even know why you asked.’’
When asked to address when the conversation with Mr. Kerry occurred, Mr. McCain once again angrily replied, “No, no, because the issue is closed as far as I’m concerned. Everybody knows it. Everybody knows it in America.’’
In May 2004, in a Times article about prominent Democrats who wanted Mr. McCain to be Mr. Kerry’s running mate, Mr. McCain was asked by The Times if he had ever discussed the offer of the vice presidential spot, even casually, with Mr. Kerry. Mr. McCain paused for a moment and then said “no, we really haven’t.’’
But a June 2004 article in The Times reported that Mr. Kerry made his first direct overtures to Mr. McCain about the vice presidential spot about three weeks after Mr. Kerry locked up the nomination that March, according to a person who had discussed the issue with both men.

ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION is rampant. The job market sucks at best, so smaller towns like Natchez, it is really felt. Consumer spending low, and for the first time that I could remember, since I have been alive, the dollar is lower in value than most major currencies!!!! If these are NOT a reason to be afraid, then I don't know what is.

I don't recall this during the Clinton Administration. The main thing I remember is that during the Clinton Administration, I had my pick of just about ANY job I wanted, now, if I become unemployed, I am screwed, big time, with SKILL, EXPERIENCE, and a college education.

You should not take this lightly; our country is at stake! We cannot afford another four years of on-the-job training, indecisiveness, and uncertainty. Hillary will be our champion in the White House, like she has been for over 35 years of her life. I live in Chicago currently, and I can tell you that Obama will never put average Americans ahead of his own political ambitions. Voting for Hillary is voting for real meaningful change!!

The African diaspora is the diaspora created by the movements and culture of Africans and their descendants throughout the world, in places including Europe, the Caribbean, North America including UNITED STATES & Canada, South America, and Central America. The majority of the African diaspora are descended from people taken into slavery.

This is what they are referring to in the mission statement of Trinity, They consider the USA there diaspora.

The whole church statement is one that says that they are trying to further only African-Americans, not all the population of this country.

It is a thinly vieled attempt to further the agenda of only 1 race. This country will not survive if people do not get it out of their heads that it is only about their own race. You better get behind a candidate that is for ALL people, and not just a few. If Obama does not support the very view that is posted on his church's website, then MOVE his letter elsewhere.

TeachforPeace: McCain is pro-life, there is no issue with conservative there:

McCain supports the following statements:
1. Abortions should be legal only when the pregnancy resulted from incest, rape, or when the life of the woman is endangered.
2. Prohibit the late-term abortion procedure known as “partial-birth” abortion. (which has been done!)
3. Prohibit public funding of abortions and public funding of organizations that advocate or perform abortions

Most conservative agree with these stances.

The thought has occured, that Barack Obama's unscrupulous opposition: Clinton, McCain, some media, and some citizens are not able to find quality dirt on Barack Obama. Therefore, resulting ludicrous accusations have mounted regarding Barack's faith, experience, and associations.

Faith: ??"We cannot hang him any other way, so we will try the fear card. He has this funny, Muslim associated name, so we will just ignite fear in the masses, by the insinuation that he is a Muslim."??

Experience: ??"We cannot tear him down any other way, because he is extremely intelligent, articulate, and capable of uniting the masses, so we will just say he lacks the experience neccesary to be 'Commander-in- chief', this will take the focus off the fact that he is the only one to oppose this insane war Bubba-Bush got us into, McCain wants to rename "The Hundred Years War", and Clinton cannot make up her mind about."??

Associations: ??" We cannot impeach him if elected, or attempt to do so, like in the situation of Bill Clinton, and his notorious scandal, so we will just embroider his acquaintances, because there is nothing we have found criminal or unethical in his professional or personal adult life."??
In essence, don't you all find it interesting that in the case of Clinton and Mccain, where we know there are skeletons in the closet, there has not been such a sensationalization of these facts to date?
I'll tell you, it is "SURVIVOR-US PRESIDENCY" and Barack Obama is the strongest contender....some people want him sent to "Exile Island" before he completes his mastery of the game, and they already have the "Immunity Idol".

The arrogance and stupidity of the Republicans that post on this site is at a level so high, it's staggering. Terms such as "democRATS" are true indicators of such childish stupidity. Can any of you right-wing dim-wits discuss issues.

What have Republicans done for the people of this country that they should be so proud and arrogant about. The haven't done one good thing for the average American since Lincoln's abolition of slavery. How the party of Lincoln became the party of Bush is hard to figure out. Of course, today's Republicans, especially in Mississippi figure abolition was a bad thing, and support the armed insurgency against it as "state's rights."

What have Democrats done that has been good for the American people? Let's see: Labor Day, the 40 hour work week, time and a half overtime pay, the weekend, the voting rights act, the civil rights act, a pension for the elderly (social security), health care for the elderly (medicare), etc. These examples of legislation that have vastly improved the lives of Americans were all opposed by Republicans.

Republicans are a blight on the American political landscape. If it doesn't benefit corporations, the military industrial complex or the top 5% of income earners, Republicans are against it. So continue your name calling and other idiotic activities, at least Democrats have a record to stand on and be proud of.

McCain has more experience than Obama, but it is a record that should be held against him. His record in Congress should outrage all Americans. Check out his voting record in the Senate; he is not on your side. His military service is commendable, but does not qualify him to be president. I know plenty of people right here in Natchez that as much or more military experience than McCain, even POWs, but that doesn't mean they should be president.

Oh, and GopherBaroque, you are just stupid.

((evadst96)) those ridiculous accusations started almost from day one on this forum. Factual evidence has been presented and readily available to dismiss those accusations but his desperate accusers see no other way to try to further their agenda.

Of the three candidates left standing (McCain, Obama and Clinton), Obama is the only one with clean hands and fit to be President of the United States. To make him out to be this villain and "terrorist among us" is just a pitiful indication of how desperate some people are to deny him the opportunity to serve this country and finally have America live up to the true meaning of its creed . . . "that ALL men are created equal."

Yes, iconoclast, the Democrats have done so much for the average American in their role as champions of the downtrodden. Woodrow Wilson, for example, signed the Federal Reserve Act one hour after it came out of an after hours session of the Senate held when the majority of the opposing Senators had gone home for Christmas. That was a blessed gift, to give control of the nation's money supply to a handful of northeastern bankers so they could finance World War I and the investment bubble of the 1920's that brought on the depression.

According to the Treasury Department, prices for goods and services remained stable from 1635 until 1913 when Wilson favored the people with his gift of the US economy to Wall Street. Since that time, the value of the dollar has fallen approximately 94%. What a man of vision Wilson was!

Then, Franklin Roosevelt further defended the average American by confiscating their gold, under threat of 10 years in prison, and giving them pieces of paper in exchange. Yes, the Democratic party has a stellar record of caring for the average American, the downtrodden, and the elderly. All the best people know that those categories cannot care for themselves, and that to entrust them to their own devices is a sure recipe for social disaster.

By directly circumventing the constitution at every opportunity, both parties have reduced the nation to a rabble of undiscerning voters who make mere mortals demi-gods and cult heroes.

From the very sigining of the constitution it was known that the inevitable result of the creation of the new federal government would be a war between the states. Your hero Abe said that if he could preserve the union without freeing one slave he would do so, and in other writing clearly expressed his opinion that the right of one man to own another was protected by the constitution. Lincoln used the army against the citizens of the states, forced conscription, and in general exhibited the same tyrannical behavior the Bush administration has. It's easy to see how the party of Lincoln became the party of Bush.

iconoclast- here's a history lesson for you.

Republicans passed the first EVER Civil Rights Act.
Republicans essentially authored the 14th amendment in which EVERY SINGLE Democrat in Congress voted against it.

Another great Republican, U.S. Senator Everett Dirksen of Illinois, authored and introduced the 1960 Civil Rights Act. It was also he who was most responsible -- more than any other individual -- for the passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. As Republican Leader in the Senate, even though his party was in the minority, Dirksen crafted the strategy that overcame long odds and tenacious Democratic opposition.

The Democrats weren’t just internally conflicted about the 1964 Civil Rights Act; a significant number of them actually filibustered it -- preventing an up or down vote on the bill. Eventually, however -- thanks to Dirksen’s leadership -- this landmark legislation did get the vote it deserved. As with all of the previous civil rights legislation in our nation’s history, it passed with significantly more support from Republicans than from Democrats. The same was true for the 1965 Voting Rights Act, which became law the following year.

Republicans put the first woman and first black in the Supreme Court, 1st black, Colin Powell, to National Security Advisor and later, Condoleeza Rice 1st black women to National Security Advisor and Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao, the first Asian American woman in any president’s Cabinet.

Should I go on.....I could go on all day shattering your party line stereotypes and talking points. Don't forget in the 60s, it was southern democrats who were the racists.

The only thing Democrats have done is keep the status quo by keeping alive archaic policies such as welfare and affirmative action. Yeah, those have been great for african americans lately.

You don't really think that all the diverse interests that contribute the hundreds of millions of dollars to presidential campaigns are really entrusting their interest to one man or woman do you? The big money goes to all the candidates, and by sheer money they seem to have already picked either Obama or Hillary. It doesn't matter what egotistical poser gets elected, they are going to have to march to the tune of the money. Since I am not one of those moneyed interests, what choice do I have but to sit back and enjoy the show?

((eagle1)) keep fooling yourself by insinuating that African Americans are the major beneficiaries of welfare and affirmative action. To tell you the truth, I wish they would abolish the entire welfare system. There would be no need for affirmative action either, if white privilege was abolished. Then, we would have a level playing field and everybody would get a fair opportunity to realize their full potential.

BUT be prepared to see droves of people, other than African Americans, shaking cups in the streets . . . droves!!!! Let's paint a clear picture of what America would look like without welfare and affirmative action. You've used a broad brush far too long when you refer to the welfare system as being a crutch mainly for African Americans. Let's get real!

I just think if Obama were elected it would be a good education for the American people on the subject of change. Heck, we could elect a crippled black Jewish woman and we would still see no fundamental change. Our government and our society is not about fundamentals, it is about polarity and illusion.

I love how people are going to sit here and be so blatantly ignorant to the fact that pretty much EVERYONE who makes it into politics at this level is, to some degree, corrupt - as is everyone else in the country. When you start dragging skeletons out of closets, it's easy to point fingers and call out people. The thing is, if you choose to do so to one candidate, someone could just as easily do the same to the one you support.

I don't expect puritanical morality out of any of these candidates. It's not going to happen, so why pretend otherwise?

I make my choice on candidates largely based on what they've done, what they plan to do, and their position on particular political topics that are important to me. You all can lie if you wish, but I'm willing to bet that a lot of you do the same.

When it comes to most of these aforementioned political topics, Clinton and Obama are virtually identical in their positions. So, at this point.. I'm waiting out the party and will vote for either of them.

The Republican party has lost its collective mind since Bush went into office, and I'm not interested in this whole "let's halt all progress and make everyone do everything our right-wing, Christian way" thing, and believe it or not folks, outside of MS, AL, and LA, a lot of other people aren't either.

I don't care one whit about what people choose to believe or follow, and I'll dang sure not pick a political candidate over it. While Christian interests have been pandered to in the interest of maintaining blind support for the White House, there are other people, with other religions, and other priorities in this country - and they have just as much of a right to live without having to do so within Christian confines.

What does that mean? It means that Christians aren't the only ones who have beliefs and ideas and lifestyles. Get over it.

Additionally, Obama is not Muslim, as several well-written republicans have even pointed out on this page. Even if he were, I fail to see how treating muslims the way Hitler treated the Jews is a good idea, and that's how some of you people would run things were you allowed. Quite frankly, it's disgusting.

Eagle 1: Your comments are ludicrous:

"Republicans put the first woman and first black in the Supreme Court, 1st black, Colin Powell, to National Security Advisor and later, Condoleeza Rice 1st black women to National Security Advisor and Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao, the first Asian American woman in any president’s Cabinet."

Do you seriously beleive that African-Americans feel benefited by the likes of Condoleeza Rice or Colin Powell being nominated by Republicans to public office? African- Americans, by most accounts identify with the Democratic party. The reasoning is quite simple, even if African-Americans are in income brackets that would benefit their bottom line to be Republican, they relate to the countless other African-Americans, Caucasians, Latinos, Pacific Islanders, Asians and others who continue to live in poverty and inequality. The capability exists, to pass on self-serving notions for the greater good of those with whom we affiliate. The exceptions are: Condoleeza Rice, Collin Powell, and countable others.

Yes, it is true, skeletons are in all closets. Some closets are quite full and you cannot close the door for them pouring out, others you have to dig so long to find the skeletons it seems quite ridiculous to keep digging.

We all should step back and take a good, long, look at this picture. There is nothing to brag about. When we go to vote, all we have is the best of the worst to choose from. None of them have a band waggon I'd be proud to ride on. It's all to "what iffy!" The right person for the job has yet to come along. They've all impressed us with promises they cannot keep. A lot of promises that will be forgotten as soon as their butt hits the big chair. Yeah.....A change is gonna come alright. Ask yourself, is it trully a change for the better? Based on :

A black man
A white woman
An ex pow

Who will be the best for the job of runnung this country?

Posted by Teach4Peace (anonymous) on March 10, 2008 at 7:31 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Why do we have to look at demographics, and NOT THEIR ISSUES? This is what is wrong with America. Why can't they be voted for, for what they stand for, how they will make America better? Not because someone is black, a woman, or a POW. If your assertion is true, then all American presidents were voted into office because they were white males. Sadly brod, throwing these out there, only seek to insight and divide people. Read the posts around here, we have enough of that. Want the pool of candidates bigger, run. If not, it is what it is. If you can't run, throw your monies and support behind a candidate, you and others who think like you can raise up, to run for the head office someday.

Hillary has done the work of real diplomacy, visiting the front lines, meeting with world leaders, and working behind the scenes to make change.

In the midst of the air war over Kosovo, Hillary Clinton arrived in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia on May 14, 1999. Despite concerns about security, she traveled to the international border on the edge of the war zone, and visited with refugees. She met separately with Prime Minister Georgievski and President Gligorov, accompanied by U.S. Ambassador to Macedonia Christopher Hill, to emphasize America’s support for the stability and security of Macedonia. She discussed refugee policy in these meetings. Before she arrived the Macedonian government had an inconsistent policy that frequently severely restricted the flow of refugees. Indeed in the days leading up to her visit, the flow of refugees had slowed greatly. Hillary pressed these leaders to embrace a border policy that would open the way to allow many more Kosovar Albanians to escape the war zone. After talks between Hillary Clinton and the Macedonian leadership, which included the announcement of two million dollars in aid, the government opened the borders much wider, thereby saving many, many lives.

As a Senator, Hillary Clinton championed prompt recognition of Kosovo’s independence in the context of full protection of minority rights, especially for the Serbs. She has supported the full integration of the Western Balkans into Europe and the transatlantic community.

Testimonials:

Statement of Richard Holbrooke, architect of the Dayton Accords, and former permanent representative to the United Nations.

“It was dire in May 1999 when Hillary Clinton arrived in Macedonia. The government of Macedonia had slowed the flow of refugees from Kosovo to a trickle. After visiting refugees and gaining a first-hand assessment of the situation, the First Lady had intense talks with President Gligorov and Prime Minister Georgievski. In these talks, one in the Presidential Palace, another in the residence of the American Ambassador, Christopher Hill, Mrs. Clinton pressed the Macedonian government to fully open the border so that Kosovar Albanian refugees could flee the war zone to safety. She also committed herself to work with the government and people of Macedonia who also faced an emergency because of the threat to their own safety and stability. Hillary Clinton promised to take action to help the Macedonian economy. Returning to Washington, she pressed hard in the administration for action to support the Macedonians. She even contacted American business executives to ensure that American textile contracts in Macedonia were not canceled. There is no doubt in my mind, nor in the minds of those people I worked with in the Balkans at the time – that her intense efforts resulted in easing a crisis of significant dimensions and contributed to saving many lives.”

Hillary traveled to Northern Ireland seven times between 1995 and 2004, and gave what Northern Irish leader and Nobel Laureate John Hume recently described as “decisive support” to the peace process in Northern Ireland. She focused especially on encouraging the emergence of women in the political process. In addition, Hillary's work at the grass roots and behind-the-scenes helped cultivate the conditions necessary for the peace to take hold and last.

As political leaders on all sides of the process have attested, Hillary made important contributions in a wide variety of ways. She made private calls to the negotiating parties on all sides and at all levels to encourage them towards peace. She gave advice and technical assistance to Northern Ireland leaders on a range of governance issues. She used the bully pulpit to inspire and to challenge at a major address in 1998 before leaders from the contending sides.

In 1998 under the auspices of the U.S.-led Vital Voices Democracy Initiative, established by Hillary and former Secretary of State Madeleine Albright the previous year – Hillary brought together 400 women in Belfast, Northern Ireland to foster their rise to prominence and leadership and to ensure that their success helped support peace. She carried a pledge to the government of Ireland that the United States would remain a partner in the peace process.

Hillary’s efforts have continued as Senator. She visited the Republic of Ireland on her first trip during her Senate term, and Northern Ireland on her second trip, where she spoke with all of the major leaders in Northern Ireland.

Every year, she meets with the Taoiseach and other party leaders from Ireland. She continues to take calls from all parties to provide help behind the scenes and to keep the process moving forward. And she has held meetings in her office at the request of Northern Irish officials on job creation, trade, agriculture, autism, policing, economic development – and of course reconciliation.

In December 2007, when Martin McGuiness and Ian Paisley were in Washington, they met with President Bush and Hillary, thanking Hillary for her contribution to the peace process.

On different occasions, Senator Obama has told voters one thing while his campaign has said his words shouldn’t to be taken seriously. After months of speeches from Mr. Obama promising a hard end date to the Iraq war, his top foreign policy adviser is on record saying that Senator Obama will "not rely on some plan that he's crafted as a presidential candidate or a U.S. Senator."

Voters already have serious questions about whether Senator Obama is ready to be Commander-in-Chief. Now there are questions about whether he's serious about the Iraq plan he's presented on the campaign trail. Mr. Obama has made hard end dates about Iraq a centerpiece of his campaign and has repeatedly attacked Mrs. Clinton for not being clear about her intentions with regard to troop withdrawal. Now, it turns out those attacks and speeches were just words. And if you can't trust Senator Obama's words, what about him can you trust?

Well, since this is one place where one can comment, let me say I have had it with all of the media and candidates making this election about nothing but race. I have heard it is not about race, that Obama was going to be the first black contender and he is trying to run a color blind campaign. Bull!!! If it wasn't about race why is he constantly referred to as the black candidate. Why is he carrying the states with large black voter population. Because it is an election pitting white against black. Why is Bill Clinton going to Jackson State a historically black colleg, why is Hillary's senior advisor on African-American affairs coming to Natchez, would it be because the black super delegate here is leaning towards a black candidate. Let's just go ahead and admit it people. The blacks are only supporting Obama because he is black. The whites that are supporting Obama are doing out of some stupid guilt complex. This country is in for one big mess after this election. We have no real choice Republican or Democrat for any leadership.

I hope she doesn't try to steal another election.

Plain and simple, most people who vote for obama or clinton want the goverment to give them something. And you know who you are. Most people who busted their butts or worked hard for what they have don't want somebody to give them something. I will admit, McCain is not the best I have seen in a republican running for the white house. But if you think it's bad now wait till one of the democrats who promise everything at the expense of someone else gets in office!

But keep talking because if you continue to show your ignorance, I think you will do a much better job of persuading voters to jump from the Republican ship quicker than any newcomer on here.

One President per family. One party congress and president, Bad idea, Absolute power is corrupt power. There's no place for religion in goverment for religion is a form of goverment and constrains free thought. The same old form of politics got us where we are now. Fresh thinking spawns creative solutions. The development of a globilized market only benefits big business thus lowering the average Americans standard of living while raising the standard in lesser developed countries. Were all immigrants even the American Indians came from elsewhere. Greed created the health care crisis. Excessive cost for medical procedures with no standardized pricing will result in people who wont have any hope of medical care. So who do you vote for-- does it really matter-- if its really goverment by the people, for the people then the goverment shouldnt make a move that we dont know about. So as long as our so called-- elected-- officials follow our instructions they may make good employees.

Obama got healthcare policy right. While Hillary is arguing for individual mandates on Health Insurance and if one doesnt get insurance from private insurance companies one will be fined or see their wages garnished (see the Los Angeles debate in January she said it). Why should we trust someone that is the largest recipient in drug company contributions in Washington (HILLARY!!!) to bring us affordable healthcare? In 2005-2006 she received $854,000 in contributions from the Health Care industry, which represented the 2nd highest in congress and a 1st for a Democrat. Who does she speak for?

The next president of America ought to be Barack Obama. I trust him to reform the Health Care Industry to ensure that all who need it can afford it because he has not been bought by special interest groups. His approach is so refreshing.

Has anyone seen Andrew Sullivan's article on Obama or the New York times front page article on Sunday? Both give a balanced perspective on Washington politics. Well, here's Sullivan's piece http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment...

You talk about Obama and you know nothing about the man. How do you know if he Muslim or not. Some comments you need to keep to yourself. Clinton is a very strong woman and if she does become your next president, can we meet so I can shake you hand? Now what does McCain being an ex-war vet, war hero, and a patriot have to do with him running the country? In that case my husband can run for President if you think that's all that it takes. BUSH has made this country LOOK like a FOOL! We should be embarassed every time we see him on T.V. NOT being able to answer simple questions asked by reporters. He's just DUMB! Wise guy, I agree with you to an extent. There are basically two kinds of people. The difference is that both kinds are born with a wicked sinful nature. One type though has been born again by repenting of that sin nature and giving the lordship of their lives to Jesus. Once saved, that person is given the Holy Spirit which allows to overcome their sinful desires of the flesh. Jesus asked the rich young ruler, "Why do you call me good? There is none good but God." There are no good people. There are people who have giving control of their lives to Jesus and are clothed in His righteousness. I'm not trying to get super spiritual on you, but there is such a misunderstanding about "good" people. Most people, even professing Christians, don't realize that Jesus said there is no one good.

Whomever said people who vote for Obama want something for nothing, really should get a grip. I guess then the people who vote for McCain, are a war-mongering, fear-mongering, hateful bunch! I have been working since the age of 15, when I asked my mom, "mom, can I work?" She gave me this weird look, but she knew I was getting to that age. I wanted the lip gloss and all the hair supplies I could find, because a girl that age, needed her beauty! LOL! They couldn't keep up with all the stuff I wanted, so guess what, they allowed me to work, part-time, after school, as long as the grades were kept up. So, wanting something for nothing has never been a part of my character. Stop making uneducated remarks about Obama voters. You have selected whom you will vote for, please, do so without the childish generalizations.
