Delta Music ready to rock Ferriday

FERRIDAY — The seventh annual Delta Music Festival will be marked with the dedication of the Arcade Theater this Saturday.
The festival will be from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Admission will be $3.
The secretary of state’s office will also dedicate an exhibit and a star on the Delta Music Museum’s “Walk of Fame” for this year’s inductee into the Delta Music Museum Hall of Fame, New Orleans clarinetist Pete Fountain, during the festival.
The festival will feature performances by regional groups The Jordans, the Y.Z. Ealy Band, the Northwest Mississippi Community College Choir, Lujuana Weir and Easy Eddie and the Partyrockers.
The headline performer at the event will be rock ’n’ roll musician Jason Williams, of Memphis.
Williams’ musical style has been compared to that of Jerry Lee Lewis and Elvis Presley.
The festival also features arts, crafts, food, children’s games, pony rides and other activities.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Arcade Theater was conducted in early March, but it has not been officially dedicated.
Located at 218 Louisiana Ave., the Delta Music Museum is funded and operated by the secretary of state’s office and is dedicated to preserving the history of Mississippi River delta music.

Jason Williams rocks just like his daddy Jerry Lee Lewis. Looks and plays just like him. I suggest everyone go see this guy. He rocks!

I definately plan to go there. Do you think Pete Fountain will be there to perform. I enjoy this festival alot !

Original Mississippi Delta Blues music has come a long way from Negro suffering music to influencing rock & roll,R&B,Rap etc., but Pete Fountain is New Orleans Dixie/Jazz music. I like the festival for having the insight to take advantage of the tourism dollars between the confederate hills of Natchez and the high cotton slave quarters in Frogmore.It comes down to how you look at life in America Dixie or Delta.
