Gas station robbed with bottle of beer

Published Tuesday, May 6, 2008

NATCHEZ — A gas station on U.S. 61 North was robbed Sunday night — with a bottle of beer.

A man entered Christine and Henry’s Conoco station stating he was waiting for a friend to come pick him up, Natchez Police Chief Mike Mullins said.

The man then walked to the back of the store to one of the refrigerated coolers and grabbed a bottle of beer.

He walked up to the counter and bludgeoned a customer in front of him with the bottle of beer.

He stole behind the counter and demanded the cashier to open the register.

Mullins said the cashier opened the register and the man took a small amount of cash before running out of the station.

“We have a suspect and the investigation continues,” Mullins said.

They have cameras....This is going to get worse with the gas prices and food rising..

He is probably a low-life living off the government so food and gas prices do not affect him. The rising prices is no excuse for breaking the law. That boils down to making a choice between right and wrong...period.

More and more ccw permits out there......

It might be frogprincenessntz....But, you watch what i'm saying as food and gas goes up so will our crime...People do things they normally wouldn't do in those situations...You don't know he was living on goverment asst...if he was why would he have to rob anyone? They seem to be living good....his child could have been hungry...You never know...

Frogprincessntz, just because someone gets food stamp benefits doesn't mean they're not affected by high prices. I happen to receive them(and yes, I work but still need help) and trust me, trying to stretch a set amount every month gets harder and harder.

Thats right kd...They say meat has increased by 70% in a year..Fruit and vegetables by 40%....Just because they may recieve help doesn't mean there food stamps go up with the prices...

This article tells us very little. How bad was the person hurt who got hit with the bottle? Were they male, female, child, elderly? Were they killed and the information being withheld? A big beer bottle to the head can do massive damage. No one has the right to do this to another for any reason. You can most likely be sure the money was for crack (or the like) and not food or medicine for the children.

If every person were given money to spend on buying a house, car, etc., I mean, all it takes is printing it out, then all our resources would deplete dramatically, leaving EVERYONE out of work. So instead, we (people) are passed a simple REBATE CHECK. Had we (people) been given a RAISE, then that would be the same as the past. The poor will spend it on something that is owed, unlike the wealthy, whom will just thrive...this is call "REPUBLICAN".

This bandit might be hard to catch. The plan speaks of criminal genius; he first disarmed the clerk with his story about waiting for a ride and then pretended to be a customer. After bludgeoning the customer in front to show he wasn't afraid to use a beer bottle he wisely did not bludgeon the clerk and thus deny himself access to the cash in the register. This degree of planning makes me suspect he had a similar clever plan of escape.

Posted by mudzillaefi (anonymous) on May 6, 2008 at 6:24 a.m. (Suggest removal)

This deviate should be beat with the same bottle. But since the cops don't make enough money, and food prices are so high, might want to make sure they beat him with a domestic brand and not an import! had the clerk had a 40 once, it would been on!!

If we would start puttin a few of these thugs, rapists, robbers,in the ground a lot of this type of thing would cease.Take the same coke bottle and bludgeon him for a couple of hour and then turn your hound dogs loose on him after you pour honey on his head and bury him in the dirt out in the county..

Most of the folks that really, sincerely need food stamps and help have a hard time getting it,and or getting around to the places they need to be. I see the so called welfare crews hanging out in the stores and rambling the streets taking their sweet time holdin up the bank lanes and shooting the breeze because they don,t work, ain,t gonna, and scream bloody murder at every little tiny thing that anyone says or does that THEY don,t approve of.

May God have mercy on the soul of this thief who had to go to such extreme measures in order to survive.

Posted by kpage (anonymous) on May 6, 2008 at 10:01 a.m. (Suggest removal)

If I was the victim, I may ask for some help paying my medical costs...after all, the injury happened inside the C and H store. But I wouldn't sue them. C and H couldn't help that the crime was perpetrated. People who constantly look for someone to sue have hard hearts and issues deeper than they'll admit to.

If the cops haven't found him yet, they probably will soon. Didn't the idiot realize he'd be caught on camera...especially at the cash register?

Posted by lambchop (anonymous) on May 6, 2008 at 10:04 a.m. (Suggest removal)

Where are the public stockades? We need to put them back in force and put some of these "idiots" into them when caught. I hope the customer was not seriously injured but oh, the nightmares. Can you imagine someone walking up to you or behind you and clubbing you with a bottle? Private security agencies should gear up and prepare themselves to be asked to work at some of these gas stations. Jackson has had several hit over the last few months. And, please watch out for the female employee who might be working evenings -- no place to be alone with a lot of strange people out there. Gas station employees - be careful and watchful. Put a "cage" around them like the banks used to have and make it secure for the employee.

I am sure that the store has insurance and will pay for the bills. I am being sarcastic about the thug paying. I realize that he has no money. I just think that it is interesting how quick people place responsiblity on the law abiding citizens and not the person who caused the problem. Its not the stores fault that a criminal comes in and does harm. We can put security guards and lock the employees up for safety, but then the price of a coke goes to $3.00. I think these stores need to have guns in plain view and be willing to use them. I am tired of victims getting all the blame and paying all the cost. Criminals need to be shot at location of crime or put in jail where they can work on a chain gang for the city and the little bit of money that they make should go to the victims, not buying cigarettes.

Well thats good to know. I am now "wounder" why you have to clarify your existance. Maybe you need to be thanking our government and forefathers for allowing you to have a place you can call home (instead of a superior being that gets all the credit). My life is wounder too, but I thank myself, my government, my freedom and independence, and the people that I love for making that possible, NOT some superior onlooker.

You always pull the jealous card, is that really all you have? And please name for me one reason why I am jealous? I may be pompous, arrogant, smart***ed, and aggravating but jealous? I just do not comprehend where you would get such an outrageous idea?

Making fun of people that have more than she? What... more? People like you and itsawounderfullife criticize my comments and when I turn around and fire back, you call me "jealous"?

Pathetic...

Posted by obamayamama (anonymous) on May 6, 2008 at 11:10 a.m. (Suggest removal)

No one has to teach grammer to know that YOU DROP THE E WHEN ADDING ING.

This article is not about SAYITLOUD or ITSAWOUNDERFULLIFE and their personal comments, it's about another store in Natchez being robbed and the robber getting away with it.

Natchez crime is causing the city to deteriorate. Innocent people are victims of theft and battery more and more often. I agree with Natchez36, nothing is being done to correct the problem.

What can be done? Can more people attempt to attend monthy town meetings?

What is the answer?

I use "wounder" bc that is her name. And if I was perfect, I would put a stop to these thugs in Natchez hurting innocent people. And I would teach grammer!

grammAr... and I know what you were poking fun at... But shouldn't you make your statement make sense when doing so? I tend to try to not butt heads with you anymore because in some aspects I agree with some of your views. But lately you are making it very hard for me to keep my mouth shut. Its like you are a total different person! So from now on when you are flat out wrong about something and I can prove it, I will make sure to bring it to your attention. You shouldn't have a problem with that since you do the same for all of us!!!!

Ok, and I can accept that. There is nothing wrong with constructive criticizm. And sometimes, I go overboard in an arrogant way, but I am really just trying to spice things up. It makes the day go by faster.

In the future, I will decrease the level of ostentatiousism in my comments. But I am still open to disputes when concerning politics, religion, grammAr, and/or crime in Natchez.

I agree that spicing up the conversation does help the day go by faster for us but some people just do not know how to take your sometimes "arrogant" criticism! The man that was hit with the bottle is fine. He had to go to the hospital that night though. What the democrat is not telling you is that the robber LIVED in the Terrace Motel. We need to tear that damn place down! There is nothing but low-life trash that live there.

Posted by firered (anonymous) on May 6, 2008 at 12:55 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I actually know a girl who lived at the Terrace for lack of anywhere else to go. She had very limited money and a pretty crappy boyfriend she was trying to support. She is not low-life trash. And it was fairly recently that she lived there. So I think that that generalized comment was not fair. However, I do agree that there should maybe be stricter standards for those who inhabit certain places around town, not just the Terrace. I mean think about it.. If you tear it down then the "low-life trash" that lives there will move somewhere else. All the while taking over the whole town. The more you push them out the more places they inhabit.

I am, however, relieved to hear that the man hit with the bottle is ok. I hope that the cops catch this idiot very soon! It seems that Christine and Henry's gets robbed an awful lot.

Posted by obamayamama (anonymous) on May 6, 2008 at 1:14 p.m. (Suggest removal)

If he lives at the Terrace, shouldn't they be able to find him rather quickly?

Posted by lambchop (anonymous) on May 6, 2008 at 1:19 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Should I or shouldn't I comment! What a dilemma. So many blogging about personalities and touchy feelings and rather little about the incident. I guess most people writing are unemployed, housewives, retired -- because an employer would be upset if you worked for them and wrote here all day. I am in here so you can throw some mud my way. Spelling, grammar, sentence structure is not the reason for the "attacks" and "counter-attacks", it is just a way you can use to express yourself, I think - but not sure.

The police cannot be everywhere at the time a crime is committed. If that were possible, we would not only live in a police state but would be so outnumbered we might feel we were back in Germany during WWII. Crime will always be with us because someone wants what someone else has. We do not know why the criminal did what he did. If it was to feed a hungry child as someone suggested, he did it the wrong way. He actually deprives his child because when caught he will be behind bars. If he is on drugs, it could have been worse - the customer could have been killed. If he just wanted money -- there is no stopping him because he will attack anyone for that.

I thank God everyday for what little I have. I have worked all my life and still don't have much but I don't need much. I am neither jealous of my neighbor with the new car while I ride around in an older heap; nor am I jealous of the richest in the finest mansion. I love me and thank God He made me the way I am, for without Him I might be like the man in the article.

So for those of you who cannot stand the phrase or word about God, accept my must humble apologies for interfering in your mind-thought but, you see, I cannot fathom a day without Jesus. He is the hereafter that will last for eternity. Earth days are short in comparison to eternity. Jesus has been gone for over 2,000 years and we are still waiting for His 2nd coming; many lives are living in eternity waiting to rise with the Father when He returns.

No more of my uneducated preaching or ramblings - God Bless the USA.

God Bless the USA for the FREEDOM OF RELIGION! Religion is what is second-coming. Religion will cease human civilization. Just as you believe so heavily, so do the Muslims who give their life everyday just to try and destroy Americans (or any other religion) for polluting the atmosphere with wasted carbon.

You see it your way and I see it mine.

I pray that He will help you find your way in life and for the peace you so obviously do not have. Otherwise you would not be so mean and hateful to people. I pray that I will have patience with your rants and not lose my temper as I sometimes do, and that I can meet your anger with His grace.

Well, I will rant no more and my hatred will cease UNTIL someone starts first. I do have peace but oftentimes loose it when everyone begins associating life with "God's creation".

I may have to change my name soon, seems like I am getting voted off the island. I have been attacked today more than any other day. And you are calling me hateful.

Excuse me, but your remarks sound hateful to others, as well as hurtful. Nobody attacked you, until you started in on them, and I doubt your name has anything to do with your attitude. If we Christians (which by the way make up 86% of the population of the United States) want to believe in God, why should it bother you? If you don't believe in God, so be it. It's your loss in my opinion, which remember is worth just as much as anyone else's.

SAYITLOUD!!!!!!!!! HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO TELL YOU I AM NOT ATHIEST!!! I want NOTHING to do with your simple minded self either. You always say the same things about me, how about SOMETHING NEW!

As for you freedom42, oh aren't you just so good and holy. Well, go ahead and catagorize (just like stupid sayitloud) me as not being a Christian. Who should care whether Christians make up 86% of the population??? Have you noticed that percentage is decreasing at a rapid rate thanks to SCIENCE and PROOF?! Have you also noticed in the news about the CHRISTIAN preachers raping, torturing, and enslaving young females from Asian countries? How about Catholic preachers and young school boys?

Sure, you go ahead and group me into a NON-Christian. YOU ALSO should respect me not believing in your non-sense. DO NOT come on here and tell me you will pray for me whether I like it or not, THEN turn around and say "If we Christians want to believe in God, why should it bother you?". It doesn't bother me. But it does bother me when you include me in your "prayers".

One can say they are anything they want to say, i.e. "Christian preachers raping, torturing, and enslaving young females from Asian countries? How about Catholic preachers and young school boys?" All I can say about this is these people are NOT true Christians.
Matthew 7:

15"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them. "

Only you don't believe in the Bible, so this probably doesn't make any sense to you. But, a real Christian, one who would follow Jesus with all his heart, will not bear evil fruit - in other words do evil deeds. I am not judging you, you have to make your own choices. But I will say with Joshua, "as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord."

None of us are perfect, and I make lots of mistakes, but I do try my best to follow and serve Jesus. I want to be known by my good fruits.

Hey, Redusmfan, funny post. When I saw the title of this article, I laughed and thought it would be funny. Man people are getting wierder and wierder by the day. What next, rubber bands, or may be spit balls?

I'm sorry for the person who got hurt, though.

Won't obamayamama be REALLY surprised when Jesus descends from Heaven to get us? And we won't be able to help her when she begs to go. Let's not stop praying for her, freedom.

Freedom, here's one for you, how about a bag of ice? Can you see the description in the artice: "The cashier received strikes from many balls of ice. The supsect was caught when a get-away turned slippery. The exact amount of ice balls will be determined from the amount of water on the floor. Investigators are still at the scene. Therefore, no one will be able to entire the store until the floors are dry. Investigators say they have to mop on top of things. We will provide further updates as this all dries out."

Hey, I went too far. Sorry you all, I had to go there.

theres obviously more to this story...did he drive away. Maybe if he walked he lives close by. And if he used a beer bottle...was there another weapon or did he use his only weapon on a customer and demanded money? Obviously the person who got hit by the beerbottle wasn't a beer drinking man or he would have creamed him. Funny thing...there were 7 sentences to the story and 94 blogs of ppl. arguing with each other that doesn't even pertain to the story...

Ok Ok, I have to interject here, Obama, you are apparently a scorned person for whatever reason? Did you have a bad experience growing up with a church or pastor etc? If you don't believe, why would it bother you if people show kindness and pray for what they feel is the end game for your immortal soul? If you do not believe in a supreme being, my dear, you are an ATHIEST by every sense of the word. Sorry look it up. God in his infinite wisdom and understanding of the human mind has given you that right. But be careful, here you cannot straddle the fence. There is no such thing as a partial believer. The bible, Koran, Tora, all state that the only unforgiveable sin, is saying there isn't a God and stating this fact to others. So if you do harbor even a shred of faith and or belief, then my advice to you is be very careful what you say and do here. Cause hell is gonna be hot there Kemosabee, and once you die, you will be judged according to your works. Don't expect forgiveness on your deathbed for what you do and say today. We do care if you are bitter or scorned and feel you are....Mad at God. We don't care if you don't like it becuase we do what God tells us to in the Bible and or other texts, which is to pray for you and others who talk and feel the way you do. But here is a little hint for you, If you have faith even the size of a mustard seed, don't look now, but you might be a christian in denial. (Look out some of the hecklers might see this)lol Oh and wouldn't it be even partly 'cool" to think that there is some form of afterlife, other than rotting in the ground and not having the chance to carry on into some other dimension or world? I guess my point is, before you pass judgement, rememer there are a lot more christians than ATHIESTS, and for some odd reason, (maybe history) you are outnumbered. lol My guess is, when you have bad times, or sick loved ones, or sickness yourself, you are the first one to say under your breath, "God help me". (pssssst- he still will no matter what you tell us)

Posted by obamayamama (anonymous) on May 7, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Well, I do believe in GOD, but for some reason, you Christians classify anyone as not believing in a religious god as athiests. THIS IS NOT TRUE. I do not look for God to save my selfish lifestyle. I do not pray to God that I will have a good day, or that I will recover from a sickness, or that I will not loose a loved one, or that I will win the lottery, or that I will not go to HELL. This is what Christians do. And it is so absurdly selfish. I am scorned because I see the selfishness bursting around me with you all, yet you act like you are so holy and empathetic.
I look to my inner soul, my inner love to get me though the bad times. Most people believe in religion because they can NOT accept the fact that they have nothing to depend on. They can not accept the responsiblity of knowing they are all that exist and when death occurs, it may be up to them and ONLY THEM to find their own solitude.

I dislike religion because of people just like you and 80% of everyone else that has judged me on this website. You judge and tell me "you'll be sorry..." then procede to tell me their belief.

I am outnumbered because of others selfishness, not my own.

Perhaps you religious fanatics should study some astronomy. The human beings on this Earth are no more important or DEVINE than any other creatures that exist indefinately. For the Universe, there are something like 10,000,000,000,000 stars in our galaxy, and there are perhaps something like 10,000,000,000,000 galaxies in the Universe.

With this simple calculation you get something like 10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars in the Universe!

Now what makes you believe that you are so important when each of these stars in this universe could be a sun with other planets with other lifeforms who think they are devine and their soul will never die ONLY if they believe in a certain GOD (and of course, ask for forgiveness, otherwise they will be condemned to HELL FOREVER!)?

Sounds absurd? The proof of these stars exist, and we can see them everynight when we look up. They are not imaginary or unseen.

Now I am completely confused. You truly are talkin in riddles and obviously hiding something. people don't pray for you to force they're ideals on you. You are offended becuase people feel the need to pray for you, when you, don't feel the need to do it yourself. If you don't pray or ask God to intervene in your life then your not a christian per say, but an agnostic. a fringe person who believes yet rejects others beliefs. This doesn't make you a bad person, just a hypocrit. If you will think a minute, what difference does it make if people tell you they're beliefs? You obviously think and believe the way of judahism. You believe in God just not Jesus? As for being selfish becuase we pray for you? This is an act of kindness, caring, mutual respect. We pray that no matter what God you believe in, he will open your eyes to the world around you. You mentioned solitude after death? HMMM... thats interesting. Do you think you will be alone when you die? Solitude is just that, being alone. Nothing just you and your perceptions. I imagine a heaven with my long dead kin, waiting for me to arrive. Oh and most of all, to see god in all his splendor. If you believe in God, or jesus, you already are in the very religion you curse. Lets see....your not Buddist, so you don't worship his teachings, ....you aren't Toaist, so you aren't "one with nature and the cosmic forces around you,....you aren't hindu are you and worship cows as sacred animals (stay away from Mickey D's if you are).....You aren't Muslim, becuase you wrote God, not allah.......Uh oh, you must be a dreaded good ole God fearin person....wait a minute, like us???!!! dang! Case solved. Glad i could help ya there Obama. Always feels good to help others. The Golden rule I follow says, "do unto others as you would have them do unto you". So, i would pray for someone like you who seems to need it! lol. I have a very serious question however, in your last post, you said you believe in God? If so, why?

Posted by mudzillaefi (anonymous) on May 7, 2008 at 2:27 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Stars, moons, planets, now what on EARTH, does this have to do with your belief in God? How do you know it isn't the same on these same planets you mentioned? have you been there? Do you know any aliens that have heard of God, or christians and view them as you do?

The fact is that just as people can not comprehend the size of say, a virus (20 to 400 nanometers), people can also not comprehend how large our universe is (not to even mention other universes we haven't even discovered yet). So what does man do? They invent something (code of ethics or set of rules) that all mankind can conceive. Religion is born. And religion has been effective for the survival of mankind. However, the further we procede in technology, the easier it is to prove what I have just stated.

See, now you are being sarcastic with me. This is to cover up what you can not face, and that is that we are mere particles of matter, nothing more, nothing less.

God is all things, everything, me, you, love, hate, air, fantasy, sun, moon, universe. God is all, not some judgemental, critical, being that will allow us to live in peace when we die.

By the way, I haven't read anywhere here where someone has claimed divinty. As a matter of fact, I am quite mortal. I expect to die one day. I just like knowing I have at least a 50/50 shot at spending eternity in a place described to me for years as paradise. My point in engaging you is, believe exactly what you won't its your right. but just don't let your desire to crush those who differ from your opinion, cause you to loose your 50/50 chance. If you believe in a God who created heaven and earth, then you know your going on assumptions based on a hot temper, not fact. admittedly the bible could be wrong as can the Koran, but knowing as you say you do there is a God, are you willing to take that chance that it is correct and you disregarded it? Who are you or i to say it is all melarchy. The last verse of the last chapter says whoever changes or adds to or takes away from these words will reap gods wrath. So, if we are wrong becuase someone changed it, wouldn't it kinda exempt you from a mistake based on this? But if you heart tells you that something is wrong, and you don't do it, you might have just obeyed God.

By the way, thanks for speaking to me on a more intelligent note rather than a religious one. I am not sure if what I believe in classifies as a religion. I guess the closest thing I am is a Deist. I do believe in LOVE, and I do try to create a good sense of wellbeing everyday. But I do not do it for God, or Jesus, or because I want to be a good Christian, I do it because it feels like that is how it should be.
I would love to think that I will see my mother in Heaven when I die. I once was Babtist. Now, after much indications, I believe otherwise.
I just get very frustrated when I come to this website, and all I read about in these comments are people constantly speaking of GOD.
But you are right, I should respect their beliefs and will try to do so in the future.

Posted by obamayamama (anonymous) on May 7, 2008 at 2:50 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I say it is melarchy because, for 2000 years, since Christianity was born, there is no physical proof. I am a scientist, I believe in proof. And when there is none, I just can not make myself believe.
IF there were to be proof, PHYSICAL proof that the everything in the bible actually occurred, then I would be asking for forgiveness.
My life is spent searching for the truth, mainly through knowledge, learning, and studying the PROOF.

Why do I have to be classified into one of these groups of people? Why can't I have my own beliefs? Why do Christians always have to classify? I will tell you why, because that is the easiest answer to put their wondering minds at ease. Humans can not live in question, they always have to have someone or something to blame. People fear what they do not know. People fear death. Yet, if they can say that they will live for eternity in Heaven, then they do not fear. So they worship the religous GOD because of fear.

I could go on all day, but nobody wants to hear it except me.

Posted by freedom42 (anonymous) on May 7, 2008 at 3:36 p.m. (Suggest removal)

I got through all that, and I would just like to say, I DO NOT FEAR DEATH. This earth is NOT my home, and someday I will be in heaven with my loved ones, and even I believe my pets and other animals. You would possibly be surprised at how many dying people welcome death because they know they are going on the next great adventure.
There is a lot of proof out there for the existence of God, right now I don't have time to reference it for you, but I will and send it to you. Just look at it and think about it. I was a Baptist once too, but got tired of "organized religion", so now, although I go to a Presbyterian church every week, I'm pretty free-lance about my personal beliefs.

Ok so you look for proof? Hmmm Einsiens thoery of relativity is just that still a thoery. Time and space and not "proven" to be relative. Not on a plane that we are aware of. If they all these solar systems and extra-galaxial planets are there, why haven't there been any "proof" that we aren't alone? In the Bible, and some of the ramblings of people like Nostradamus, there are predictions that have come true. Wars and rumors of wars, famine, plagues, Hitler was predicted, if everyone is common and everyone is this vague wandering sepf absorbed Godless flesh sock without a soul, then how would you explain people who see the future, or read minds, or have near death experiences etc. The funny thing is, either scientology or Theology, can explain away the other. Creationism versus Darwinism. Do some research on the net ad you will see even some of the staunchest darwinists, have been toying with the idea that both go hand in hand.

Somewhere in Phillipians, it clearly sums up that in the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow, and every tongue should confess the Glory of the Father. Now, stop all of this, and let people believe what they believe, because what those scriptures say will come to pass. If you all are going to pray for Obama, then leave him/her alone, and just do it. If he/she still feel that way, then that's him/her. Stop arguing about it already. Let's get back to the story at hand here.

Posted by obamayamama (anonymous) on May 7, 2008 at 4:01 p.m. (Suggest removal)

Hey rattlesnake, I wrote "I could go on all day, but nobody wants to hear it except me" so that someone like you would come on here and write a quote exactly like the one you wrote. How predictable..

Predictions such as the ones from Nostradamus are inevidable to occur anyway. Of course, countries will go to war, of course, someone will rise and try to dominate. I did some research on Nostradamus. His predictions were also accompanied with a lot of other predictions that didn't come true. Two thousand years of human civilization (where now the population has reach 6 billion people)... anything is predictable. And war, well that has to be the MOST predictable.

As for mind-readers & fortune teller, well I do not have any idea how that works. Perhaps some people's sub-conscience is far stronger than others. Near death experiences have been blamed on the imagination. It could be said that people already believe they are to see a light, and maybe even Heaven. A human's brain continues to function a few minutes after the heart stops beating. Imagination could take over.

Everyone has a soul and everyone's soul more than likely has a plan. Yet, we do not for sure know what that plan is. I just believe it is to be something more than just surviving in Heaven (or Hell) and doing nothing else for eternity.
