Beer bottle robbery suspect arrested

NATCHEZ — The man who allegedly robbed a gas station with a bottle of beer was arrested in Jackson and transported to Natchez Police Department on Tuesday.

Johnathan W. Bates, 40, 352 Greenwood Road, Bogue Chitto, reportedly walked into Christine & Henry’s Conoco station the evening of May 4 and stole a small amount of cash from the register and brandishing a full bottle of beer as a weapon.

He was charged with strong-arm robbery and aggravated assault, Natchez Police Chief Mike Mullins said.

He will be held with no bond until his arraignment.
