Weekend fatality-free on Miss-Lou highways
Published Tuesday, May 27, 2008
NATCHEZ — As of Monday afternoon, Mississippi Highway Patrol and Louisiana State Police officials reported no fatal accidents in Natchez and Concordia Parish during the 78-hour Memorial Day weekend.
Memorial Day weekend officially began at 6 p.m. Friday and ended at 11:59 p.m. Monday.
Soaring gas prices may have led some people to cancel their travel plans this year. A gallon of regular unleaded fuel in Natchez can cost as much as $3.89. According to AAA estimates, 37.9 million Americans traveled 50 miles or more this Memorial Day, a decrease from 38.2 million travelers last year.

Not very many people out. We went to Clear Springs in the afternoon, and passed very few cars on the highway.

Whew! That's good news, Preacher!
Sing your praise to the Lord
Come on everybody
Stand up and sing one more Hallelujah!
Sing your praise to the Lord
I can never tell you
Just how much good
That it's gonna do ya
Just to sing, sing, sing............ Amy Grant

How come the lead story in Clarion Ledger says we had 2 fatalities?

We have had our share of tragedies in the last few weeks. Maybe this alone with the price of gas is keeping people off the roads more.

I think John that this story in the ND was talking about fatalities in Adams County/Concordia Parish whereas the Ledger was talking about the state. I could be wrong though. Just a guess.
