Lost Bible contains priceless memories
Published Monday, June 16, 2008
On Tuesday last week, I attended my church circle’s meeting at First Presbyterian Church. When leaving the B&K parking lot behind Stratton Chapel my tote bag was accidentally left on the parking lot ground.
The next day I went back hoping the person who picked up my bag had returned it to the church office.
On visiting the city’s Council Chambers, which joins the church, a gentleman who works there told me he saw a woman in a van stop and pick up my tote bag. That gave me hope that it would be returned to me.
In the bag was my Bible with my name engraved on the cover and also my camera with my name on it. I had hope that since my name was on the items they would be returned.
The Bible was given to me by my husband Jack who died exactly one year ago on June 11, 2007. This Bible means everything to me. It contains many photos of deceased friends and a letter written by my brother who was a prisoner of war in World War II for 29 months in a prison camp in Germany.
Every Sunday I mark in my Bible the scripture verses read, the date and the name of the person reading the scriptures. This priceless record of over 30-plus years is recorded on its pages.
Please, please, please, if you have any compassion in your heart, call me at 601-446-5214 and tell me that you have and will return my Bible and my camera.
