Jackson, Delaney and Hollins win Wilkinson County special election
Published Wednesday, June 25, 2008
When the vote count was complete at 4 a.m. Wednesday morning, incumbent sheriff Reginald Jackson and District 2 supervisor Richard Hollins prevailed and candidate Lynn Tolliver Delaney unseated circuit clerk Mon Cree Allen in the Wilkinson County Democratic Party special election.
According to the Woodville Republican, unofficial numbers show incumbent sheriff Jackson winning the election with 2,282 votes against Jessie Stewart's 2,219 votes.
Delaney received 2,476 votes to Allen's 1,970 votes.
Hollins received 552 votes to Kirk Smith's 523 votes.
The Wilkinson County Circuit Clerk's office could not confirm the numbers. An announcement from the Wilkinson County Democratic Executive Committee was expected Wednesday morning.
Pending certification, Jackson will now face independent candidate Calvin Gaines and Delaney will face independent candidate Donna Smith in a special general election.

As long as the election was fair, I'm ok with the results. No one can say that fraud didn't happen last election. Until the state of MS makes people show their ID when they vote, fraud will be easier and easier.
I voted and I hope these elected officials are honest and hard-working. The majority has spoken, now lets get on with our lives.

maybe all the government bigshots snooping around the polls yesterday will help avoid any discrimination lawsuits. let's all hope and pray that wilkinson county can move forward into the 1970's, as adams county has managed to do in the past several years.

If Jackson beat Stewart, he will beat Gaines easier - I think

There was a new election for a reason: fraud. To date, nobody has been arrested for fraud. WHY?? The District Attorney needs to get off his arse and prosecute somebody. Unbelievable.

I absolutely agree with the need for voter ID. It's the only way to reduce the problem of voter fraud.

I think this election was fair and I am glad it is over so we can now move on.
I just pray we all can get along. It is really time that Wilkinson County start showing the Christianity they proclaim to have.
I, myself, am one of them. And honestly I think I have made a tremendous change for the better. But I am often finding myself praying for forgiveness for something I've said or thought of. But I know one thing, if we don't get it together and love one another here on earth; we won't make it into the Kingdom.
So WC, Let us get on one accord and come together in the Name of Jesus..... (Amen???)
