One charged in fatal bridge wreck
Published Thursday, June 26, 2008
VIDALIA — The only man to be charged in connection with the fatal four-car pileup on the Vidalia-Natchez bridge May 18 has been booked on additional charges.
Cedric A. Hunter, 24, of 6 Newman Drive, Natchez, turned himself in to the Vidalia Police on a bench warrant two counts vehicular homicide. His bond was set at $200,000.
Hunter was previously charged with DWI (first offense), and was released on a $696 bond at the time.
Two men, Terrence Johnson, 20, and Kelvin Keys, 22, died as a result of the accident.
Others were reportedly in the vehicles at the time of the accident but fled the scene by the time the police arrived.

This is sad!! That boy will live with what he did everyday of his life!! I bet he will never drink and drive again!! He shouldnt be jailed he should have to do 1 million community hours!! Preaching and talking to the young folks around here!! Letting them know this can and will happen to them if we dont stop it now!! Too many lives have been lost this way!! In our area alone since last year we have lost five or six people to accidents!! Some drinking was envolved!! Putting him behind bars wont bring these young boys back. God wanted them and they are home now.
Sayitloud--- do you have an extra $200000 laying around?

What diff does THAT make? Every time a tragedy such as this happens around here they get a low bond! You can't deny that unless you are one of those judges opinsab.

I am still confused. The authorities haven't even released an official statement as to what actually happened. I'm still wondering that. I understand (because of this story) that this guy was partially (or fully) responsible, but what exactly happened? Maybe I missed that story.

Opinsab,
You say that God wanted them and He brought them home. Did you know the guys personally and if you did, did you know if they were born-again. Jesus told Nicodemus in John 3 that unless a man be born again, he shall not enter the kingdom of God. I hope and pray they were, but I see people continually make these blanket statement that "they are in a better place" when Jesus taught that unless you repent, die to yourself, and make Him the complete master of your life, He will deny you on the day of judgment. I just want the truth to be known about Jesus and His teachings.
Secondly, yes God is omnipotent, and knows everything that is going on, but He still gives man free will, and that man chose to get behind the wheel of that car after drinking. To suggest that God used this man as His tool to bring people home to heaven is contrary to the teaching of scriptures.
I feel for everyone involved in the situation, but there are laws for a reason. Romans 12 teaches to obey the government and this man must obey the law and face up to what he did. I'm not saying he should go to jail for life, but he should spend 5-10 years in prison for his actions.
They say no other charges have been filed. What about all the people leaving the scene of an accident?

I cant believe he would not come forward about this and all the other people were keeping quite. I wonder if justice will be done and maybe he will let everybody know what really happened and then again He will try to save his AS-.

opinsab- are you nuts?
regardless of scripture- this dude caused people to die needlessly. I have no doubt he's a street punk and deserves to spend many years in jail, and that will save others from his bad decisions and street antics.
I don't know where you liberals draw your logic from but the basics of law and order and public safety are that when a person violates the public trust, he pays the price by being incarcerated because the public can no longer trust him. No, his incarceration will not bring back the dead (duh! you idiot) but his incarceration will prevent him from doing it again, as we can no longer trust this numbskull to operate a vehicle or even be out in the public at all for that matter and not jeopardize innocent (or not innocent) people. Lock him up!!
We need more police patrol on the bridges between Natchez and Vidalia, everyone knows and I see it all the time that as people cross the bridge there are those that will speed like hell and drag race across the bridge way over the speed limit and cut back and forth in and out of other drivers recklessly and with no regard to the safety of others. Lock em up!!
Drivers with more than two speeding tickets in a month should have their licenses revoked and spend a month at least in jail. Reckless and over the speed limit driving has gotten out of hand, the police cannot/will not issue enough tickets to stop it. Lock em up!!!

Following too close (tailgating) and traveling in the left lane on a divided highway (driving slow in the passing lane) are statistically much more lethal than speeding.
